Morgan

Scavenging pre-fall kit is a dangerous job; security bots, leftover TITAN war devices, and simply being in or around derelict habitats and ships, all are potentially lethal. Nevertheless, some people feel the rewards outweigh the risks.

Morgan is just such a person. Specialising in retrieving data from derelict facilities and selling it to the highest bidder, he has managed to make a decent living for himself... and isn't averse to grabbing any valuable hardware left lying around either. Having moved on from simple derelicts to more actively challenging prey, he is fortunate enough to have acquired a fury morph as payment for retrieving a suite of particularly valuable programmes from a habitat infested with still-active TITAN machines. Although his original body did not survive the experiance, he succeeded in saving the data and his ego via use of an emergency farcaster, and his customers were more than happy to furnish him with a combat morph in payment.

Unfortunately, he forgot to inform anybody that he would prefer a male form, and, being a hypercorp, the manufacturers refuse to provide him with a replacement without being payed. Combined with an until-then undiagnosed case of morphing disorder, this has left him with a case of body dysmorphia and in the middle of an identity crisis. Nevertheless, he is unwilling to give up his newer body for any of the alternatives he can actually afford, both due to their lesser capabilities and his morphing disorder, and generally wears smart clothes set to be as bulky and form-obscuring as possible when not actually wearing armour.

Plot Points

Morgan has salvaged a great deal of information and equipment over the years. Some of it turned out to be junk, some of it didn't, but various people aren't necessarily pleased that he sold it to somebody other than them, or that he got his hands on it in the first place...

On the other hand, some people think that recovering anything at all was and is an indication of talent that they can put to good use. These are usually the fellows that send him into some horrible deathtrap to recover a family photo or favourite they left behind during the evacuation.

Morgan fucked around with the security systems on the Carnival of the Goat during his time there on a Firewall mission. A few people died during this. One of those people, or maybe somebody who simply objects to security breaches, might decide to make their displeasure known.

One of the problems of hanging around on scum barges, something that is unfortunately necessary for a scavenger, is that it's hard for any well armed and equipped person to avoid getting involved in local 'politics'. Scum politics tends to be nasty and brutal, and some ostensible political allies might someday decide to call in their favours.

Scavengers are not always simple treasure hunters. Morgan is well educated and knows some people in the scientific community, both practical engineers and computer scientists. Sometimes, they have things they need done that they themselves don't have time for.
