History

The Andrynian Empire arose from the machinations of a cabal of warlocks, led by the self-styled Dark Lord Andryn. Whether this first emperor was Alfar, human, or something else entirely remains disputed to this day. What is known is that he spent the better part of two decades in the jungle-covered highlands of <needs map>, far away from the prying eyes of the crumbling Alfar Empire, seeking out the then barbarous tribes of trolls and subjugating them. The isolated outlying provinces of the Alfar Empire initially crumbled before the advance of his monstrous horde when it finally emerged from the rainforests. However, to Andryn's great displeasure, an invasion by an army of savage monsters supported by infernal magic proved to be just what it took to re-ignite the dying fighting spirit of the waning Alfars. He found out the hard way that savage trolls with only the barest veneer of civilisation were not yet a match for what remained of the professional Alfar military, and his initial successes turned into a desperate rout. Bloodied, beaten, and bitter, the Dark Lord's forces retreated into the safety of the jungles, reduced to hiding out and lording over simple troll villages instead of the rich Alfar provinces. Rather than sink into depression, Andryn swore to return to Alfar lands one day. In the meantime, he tried to make the best of a bad situation and started educating his brutish minions, making use of the human slaves they had dragged along during the retreat, and encouraged his subordinate warlocks to do the same. In stark contrast to his previous ventured, civilising the trolls was successful beyond his wildest expectations. However, it would be up to his descendants to expand his empire to its current borders.

The Empire of Elysium

The Revenants of Elysium prefer the term, ‘Returned’ or the ‘gifted’ and are lead by the Risen Emperor Galandrius Yü, once a great lord of the Alfar who died in service of the Orthodoxy during the necromantic wars and was returned to the world to continue his service.

The poorest of the realm reside in the communial pits, simple apartment blocks containing hundreds of simple stone coffins.
