Character Generation

Summary

Attributes

Primary Attributes

  • Power: Ability to inflict damage in combat, representing a combination of skill and killing intent. It does not necessarily represent pure physical strength since the derived bonuses from Power are the same for magical and melee classes, although this is a contributing factor.
  • Accuracy: Ability to land hits in combat, perform parries, as well as skillfully perform tasks which require mechanical precision. This is a factor of a combination of dexterity, ability to time and lead attacks and tactical acumen.
  • Speed: Ability to move quickly, providing dodge-based defense and find parry windows. Speed also determines action intervals, with higher speed granting sooner and more actions in a given span of time.
  • Toughness: Ability to resist damage, use block-based defense, certain defensive skills and absorb hits.
  • Luck: Trait which determines success rate of certain skills for rogue and entertainer classes. Also provides a number of rerolls per session.
  • Intellect: Trait which determines the success of certain skills for the magic classes. Knowledge skills all key off of Intellect.
  • Vitality: Trait which determines the ability to resist status effects, carry heavy equipment and hit points. Conditioning and self-sacrifice abilities used by some classes all make use of Vitality.
  • Ego: Trait which determines the mental power of the character, the ability to resist mundane and supernatural influences. Demon summoning and wielding cursed weapons requires strong Ego to be successful.
  • Sway: Trait which determines social influence and acumen. Entertainer classes require strong Sway to successfully cast most buffs and debuffs.

Basic Classes

Adventurer

  • Basic Rogue Class
  • Wears Light and Medium Armor.
  • Can use Light and Medium Weapons of Standard Quality.
  • Class Bonus: Can learn abilities and skills of other classes by observing them and passing a Luck or Intelligence check. Difficulty increases by one level per level difference and decreases by one for every two levels difference.

Novice

  • Basic Magic Class
  • Wears Light Armor.
  • Can use Light Weapons of Standard Quality.
  • Can use any weapon with the Focus keyword.
  • Class Bonus: Can learn abilities and skills of other classes by reading relevant manuals and passing a Luck or Intelligence check. Difficulty increases by one level per level difference and decreases by one for every two levels difference.

Squire

  • Basic Fighter Class
  • Wears any Armor.
  • Can use any Weapons of Standard Quality.
  • Class Bonus: Can learn abilities and skills of other classes by being successfully hit by it and passing a Luck or Intelligence check. Difficulty increases by one level per level difference and decreases by one for every two levels difference.
