Background Rin is from a lower-middle class family and after a pigtails-and-moe phase decided to get her life in order and ruthlessly pursue success. She transferred to Haruna Shin Seiiki due to its outstanding reputation and is well-known as a top achiever and ice queen. However her pitilessly darwinist outlook is a facade over hopeless shoujo romanticism which she indulges as the sole remaining member of the Fantastic Game and Story Club. The club's other members all graduated last year, and Rin herself is unable to bring herself to advertise and so reveal her hidden otaku nature.

Background: Narumi is a demure seeming young lady who transferred to the school only recently, little is known about her history or background, except that she's apparently an orphan, and also a shrine maiden, with membership in the Kagura club and the outfit and everything. Narumi's demure manner, mysterious paste and elegant beauty have made her a popular figure, though she seems not really to know how to deal with this.

Makoto Hitomi

Archetype: Supreme Talent (Intelligence)
Club: Occult Studies
Background: Hitomi transferred to Haruna Shin Seiiki after reading about its extensive library. In order to cover this passion, she reads a lot of history, literary theory, and cultural studies work. She plans become a famous archaeologist, and uncover ancient civilizations.

She can often be found reading in the library, or around the school, or hanging out in reputed haunting sites around the city, particularly areas devastated by the war. She is the sole active member of the Occult Studies club, save for an overly emo girl who lost both her parents and shows up mostly to complain about how her aunt and uncle don't understand her. There's a persistent rumour that she's a witch, which she hates.

Hitomi is a driven, sometimes over-intense girl who, after a series of comic misfortunes in middle school involving a disappearing boyfriend, became interested in the occult and supernatural. She becomes frustrated when dealing with people who don't understand her passions, or who persist in the rumour that she's a witch.

Club: Cooking Association (Middle Kingdom)
Background: Jin is a returning exchange student who spent nearly all of his middle school education overseas in various schools located in special economic zones in the People's Confederacy of Lotus Asia. Most of his time abroad is mired in rumor mongering and strange stories (including encounters with ancient demons and wizened monks) in the Middle Kingdom, or that he was drafted by the Triads. In addition to being considered a little odd by his peers, he's known as a truant prone to getting into fights with the elites of the school.

After some run-in with a major player in the Middle Kingdom-style Cooking Club of the Cooking Association, he joined that club as an associate. Things seemed to have calmed down for him lately, but only a little.

Nagasumi Kazuki

Archetype: Hard Work
Club: Karate
Background: Born weak and sickly, Nagasumi Kazuki has always been worse off than his peers. Only barely surviving up to his teenage years, the young Nagasumi took up Karate after a visit from his grandfather, and while he wasn't good at it, he never gave up at it either. Now Kazuki, while he still isn't extremely good at Karate, is healthy, strong, and full of energy, and seems to never give up on anything ever, no matter how bad he is at it.

Which actually explains how someone as slow as him ended up in Haruna: he never gave up on the entrance exams. Kazuki approaches everything in life with a never-say-die attitude, hoping to make a better life for himself. Coming to Haruna, he has joined the Karate Club, and has already been beaten into a pulp by many of the much much more skilled practitioners.
