Optimizing Bonus Point/XP Costs

Lower Manipulation to 1 (raise Appearance to 3 or Perception to 4)-it costs only 4 XP to purchase up to 2.

3/6 BP for Valor 3/4 (Generals need to be brave!). Remainder can go to Intelligence 4 if you only want Valor 3.

3 BP for Dexterity 5 (this is critical)

6 BP for 6 charms on retainder (this is also critical and XP-efficient)

Or 4 BP for Appearance 3/4 and 2 BP for 2 retainder charms (high appearance is critical.)

Backgrounds

Backgrounds (besides artifact) can only go up to 3 without spending bonus points.

Artifact 5 is a must obviously

Command 3? Bring goons in power armor. Lots of goons in power armor.

Then trade the remainder you can't figure out for Charms (1 background point per extra Charm on retainder) or Allies (more Robot Buddies)

Other Things

Perfected Lotus Matrix is good to consider. You can replace up to 4 of your starting charms with martial arts, and being able to learn martial arts gives you one interesting path of advancement if you don't have vats access. It depends what you want.

Experience

You'll probably end up starting with way more charms than you need and just need to buy slots for them. That's intentional. Means you just need to spend 4 XP a slot gradually increasing your repertoire.

Other good things to buy up later-War and Melee (to 4-5).

Charm Recommendations

Alchemical Social Charms (Perfected Union Patterning/etc) are good for aligning groups that already like you to like you more. You're a Aztec-Communist champion of the people!

Alloyed Reinforcement of Flesh/Essence Shield Projector/Etc. are all good defensive charms. Transitory Invulnerability Engine is also something to possibly work towards.

Industrial Survival Frame (Crystal) stops people from punching you and then turning you into a duck. All critical purchases.

Manifold Transhuman Implants (or just buy mutations straight). Alchemicals get to play with their transhuman nature a lot and we know you like that kind of thing.
