Heliqa

Name: Heliqa
Class: Dancer [dex-focused class with strong roll iframe growth]
Primary Equipment:
  • Orochelle Puzzle Blade: This weapon can be used as a straight sword, but its most famous use is as a long bladed whip or chain. In the hands of a skilled user it seems to move with a mind of its own, something not uncommon among the unsettling creations of Orochelle. Scaling Str E Dex A, weak vs armour.
  • Orochelle Dancer's Set (Firesilk Wig/Orochelle Dancer's Garb/Orochelle Dancer's Gauntlets/Orochelle Dancer's Sandals): High magic DEF, high curse DEF, low physical DEF, low weight. Wig is also high fire DEF.
Unusual Capacities:
  • Orochelle Marionette: The lords of Orochelle had little interest in the supposed beauty of impermanence, and commanded their alchemists to preserve their favourite creatures. The ageless marionettes thus made had little need for sleep and could live on air and water, but tended to unsettle visitors with their quiescence and stillness. But Orochelle cared little for the opinions of philistines.
What you remember:
  • The long road east to Espavarre, the strange people met, and the six words.
but before that, and dimmer
  • The shaking earth, and the cage falling, and the broken bars, and the guards and the looters who tried to stop her dance and are now stopped themselves.
but before that, and dimmer
  • The long time with no dances.
but before that, and dimmer
  • The long time with many dances.
but sometimes in the night
  • The white-gold ships. The screaming in the darkness. The warm still bodies, the hand pulled from hers. The ropes, the sack.
but before that, and dimmer
  • Strange people, and strange thoughts. Warmth.

Sanna

Class

  • Cannot wear any armour
  • Strong dodge animations with generous iFrames
  • Gear dependent DPS
  • Primary stat DEX

Primary Equipment
No magic beyond fire and silver, but a broad selection of mundane weapons and sensible gear for the non-undea (climbing and camping etc.)

  • Flintlocks: Always keeps a bunch handy on her webbing. Generally cannot be reloaded during a fight but the effect is dramatic when fired. Attracts undead due to the noise. Pierces armour. Perfect for levelling the playing field when outclassed or preempting a fight even though you outclass them.
  • Tarnished Spear: A weapon with higher DEX and lower STR scaling than other polearms. The tarnish comes from the silver inlay which makes it effective against a lot of things it would otherwise not be effective against. Perfect for holding range and dealing with superhuman or supernaturally skilled opponents when you're just a competent mortal.
  • Lantern Buckler/Side Sword: The gear for swashbuckling when the spearplay is done.
  • Tarnished Stiletto: Pierces armour.
  • Arachne Webbing: Censored in several localizations. Provides no protection save its natural properties as an insect repellent, but does greatly reduce the effect of equipment weight on mobility. Acquired after a wild and lurid night with an Arachne Princess after foiling a plot on her life and averting a war, to hear her tell of it.
  • Baphoes: A pair of black furred, sure-footed pack animals looking like a cross between a mountain cat and a mountain goat with cruciform pupils and cheshire grins full of stout, conical teeth. Will eat almost anything but prefer carrion. A good choice for exploring this sort of place so long as you don't try to ride them. Lazing around in the camp.

Unusual Capacities
Subject to a number of geasa and a (mixed) blessing in the heroic tradition; her body was blessed to repel any blow up to a certain number until the last one, which shall surely slay her. The definition of a "blow" proved unexpectedly broad and she is quickly running out of charges, hence the various optimizations she has taken to preserve them. It also makes armour useless.

While a competent fighter with, effectively, a blessing of invulnerability (at least for now), she prefers to cheese obstacles or opponents in unsporting fashion where possible with guile, gunpowder and gravity as her professed weapons of choice. Unlike the rest of the party, she makes up for the lack of infinite (undead) retries by being a highly experienced dungeon delver to begin with.

What You Remember
She isn't undead and so remembers herself perfectly well - the fifth child to of an old but modest noble family. She has at various times been a courtier, spy, gambler, fraud, monster hunter and now, in her mid twenties, a treasure hunter and professional risk taker. Being mortal, she has plenty of possessions - a lot of the stuff in the camp is hers, including a couple pack animals. She is driven to explore the Fallen Empire by the desire for more loot and the thrill of ignoring the consequences of this process. She's pretty sure Restore the Throne; Preserve the Age were closing statements from the last (very undead looking) witch she consulted regarding her geasa. It doesn't sound too interesting compared to looting ruins nor seems relevant to her particular situation but she is at least open to the idea.
