The daughter of a minor noble, Tressa was orphaned a decade ago in the great war that raged in the imperial boarder provinces with the old kingdoms. She places the blame for this on the actions of the King of Sarnland, widely fated as a good king, who's war was committed in good cause. For this reason she believes that even a king must be bound by law. Tressa was adopted into the church and quickly became a paladin.

Fanchon Guillory

Concept: Abandoned Soldier of Forlorn Hope

Fanchon Guillory was born in a soldier's household in a fiefdom on the northern coast, the eldest daughter of an aging armsman who had no sons. When the local lord came for his tithe of swords, Fanchon's father reluctantly allowed her to go out on campaign in his stead. Things went well at first, until a spat with a senior man-at-arms in the lord's retinue led to her being placed in the first assault, sent to break the spears and pikes of the enemy. After her first battle, Fanchon found herself digging out of a mound of corpses, wandering across an open grave as far as the eye could see. Days had passed. She was alone.

She wandered to the center of the battlefield, seeing a sword like her own, adorned with a single stone of purple obsidian. Realizing she would be branded a deserter by her lord, she took the sword in hand, intending to claim her right to return home- even if it means walking alongside death itself.

Fragment: The Shadow of Death
The Shadow of Death is a somewhat infamous tablet artifact, having passed from hired killer to hired killer over the centuries. The blade's bearers have worked for the church from time to time, but the church has never actually "owned" the artifact. Its nature or theme is that of silent, stealthy, death - the kind that, sometimes suddenly, creeps up seemingly out of nowhere. Church records on the artifact are rather vague but it appears to grant its masters power over death and shadows. More specifically the artifact is known to have granted various wielders abilities such as cloaking themselves in shadows, stealing other beings' life-energies, commanding and shaping the shadows themselves, "cheating death" itself, laying death curses, killing with the smallest injury, and assorted other abilities.

Isadora Abendroth

Concept: The Noble Vampire

The sole heir to a noble house in decline, Isadora Abendroth's birth did little to give her family hope for the future of their bloodline. Although gifted with a keen intellect and insatiable appetite for learning, the young Isadora suffered from an exceedingly fragile constitution, which often left her bedridden for weeks or even months at a time. Despite the best efforts of her family's personal physicians, her condition failed to improve as she grew into womanhood, her bouts of illness growing longer and more severe with each passing year.

Fearing that their daughter would not survive long enough to wed - let alone produce an heir - Isadora's father, the Baron, decided to take drastic action. Opening a sealed vault within the bowels of the family castle, he removed a locked chest, within which lay a sacred relic, passed down through the Abendroth family for generations - an Enochian tablet fragment, kept hidden from the agents of the Church for hundreds of years. Though no larger than a coin, the fragment was rumored to possess formidable healing powers - powers that might finally cure his daughter of her affliction and grant her the strength to restore the Abendroth household to its former glory.

Carefully placing the tablet fragment upon their daughter's chest, just above her heart, the Baron and Baroness watched in stunned silence as the stone slowly fused with Isadora's pale flesh, the twisting, serpentine script etched into its surface pulsing softly with a dull, ruddy light. Isadora gasped, her body stiffening as the fragment's power coursed through her veins, bringing with it strength and a strange, terrible hunger. From that day forward, Isadora Abendroth would never again know the touch of sickness or infirmity, but her new found vitality came at a terrible price.

In the years since her transformation, Isadora has worked tirelessly to understand her condition and control her hunger. While another noble might have used their power and authority to indulge their appetites, Isadora's lifetime of illness has given her great empathy for the suffering of others, and she seeks to sustain herself without harming her family's subjects; feeding only when she must, and taking only what she needs to survive. Of course, the changes to Isadora's appearance and habits have not gone unnoticed by the common folk, and unsettling rumors have begun to circulate within the Abendroth barony - rumors of forbidden magics and the blessings of dark gods...

Isadora Abendroth is a pale, slender young woman in her early twenties. She is of average height, with deep green eyes and long, coppery hair, which she keeps bound up in a tight bun behind her head. Although quite pretty, Isadora prefers severe, conservative garments with long sleeves and high collars - which help to conceal the tablet fragment embedded in her chest. Her smile - when she chooses to show it - is quite dazzling, though keen observers may occasionally notice the unnatural sharpness of her canine teeth.
