Velan drone structural elements are more akin to cartilage than modern metal frames, capable of flexing when required and remaining rigid when necessary. Similarly they tend to fail gracefully, bending and warping instead of outright fracturing under extreme strain. Although not fully reproducible by human industrial techniques using interlocked cages of these combined with conventional structural connectors can provide lighter and more effective structural reinforcement.

Velan worker and warrior drones do not have internal reactors, but instead receive power from dedicated 'mothers', and store it in nanostructured batteries based on emergent magnetic monopole behaviour. The way drones communicate was for a long time shrouded in mystery, until close examination of a live captured drone under high stress by a xenology team revealed abnormal magnetic patterns. Drones communicate along magnetic flux tubes between paired pseudo-monopoles, a structure highly resistant to conventional ECM and sigint systems. The cracking of this technology enabled not just communication with drones (provided one can be captured to provide a connection to the network) but also reliable covert communications for remote craft and sensitive information.

White Point Transduction Manifold
A virtual star, a White Point Transduction Manifold functions like a miniature white hole encased in hyperdiamond. Separated from its otherwise immense mass, the manifold serves as a power font. While more efficient then T-Forced Fusion by its nature, it is difficult to extract additional power from the manifold beyond a certain point, as such increases produce a corresponding localization of the manifold's mass. White Point Transduction Manifolds running on overclock produce an intense field of pseudogravity and will effectively increase a vessel's mass, resulting in difficulty performing evasive maneuvers. Planar segments of 'valence armour' can be adapted to project an inverted forcefield a short distance beyond the edge of the material. Adapted for destruction, this has the opposite effect to conventional valence fields and serves to weaken binding forces. When used on an edged weapon design, the combination of material weakening and hyper-reinforced blade produce fearsome cutting power (read: cleave and brutish).
