Gestahl

Moalzjae

The largest of the Rixoi nations, this was once the heart of the old empire that covered nearly all of Jecht. Now, Moalzjae sits in the south-central portion of the landmass, surrounded by splinters of its former glory (mostly in the form of the Rixoi Union in the North). The communist nation still retains its former government, and has maintained control through its prodigious propaganda engine and constant fear of the Kefkan colonies. This allows the country to persist, despite poor standard of living and heavy financial troubles, alleviated somewhat by the nation’s bloated black-market drug trade. The current leader, Xalopei, is the son of a military officer whose ties to narcotics are all but open.

The Moalzjae military focuses on cheap, plentiful units, making the most of their shortages. Due to abundant Green Crystal, many mutated beasts are fielded as shock troops. In terms of Aspects, Rixoi relies heavily on Monster Knights, particularly as spies and saboteurs. Rumour has it that they do not send all of their Aspects to the Academy, but investigations have turned up no evidence of illegal soldiers.

The Rixoi Union

This collection smaller nations covers the northern portion of Jecht, and composes the second half of the Rixoi ethnic body along with Moalzjae. Formed into an alliance by the threat of Kefkan conquest, these nations spend as much time squabbling and spying amongst themselves as they do with the colonies. The nations run the gamut between harsh juntas to tiny democracies, and their military doctrines vary just as widely. Only a few have access to Crystals, and use this as a means to dominate the Union. Most survive by trading exotic goods with the Kefkan World in exchange for modern conveniences. Quite a few are former Moalzjae vassal states, and watch their former master warily.

Kefka

Dymo

A worst possible example of corporate rule, this desert nation in Eastern Kefka is controlled by a corrupt conglomerate of companies and businesses. While First-world amenities and luxuries are rampant, the apparently-democratic system is almost entirely a puppet for the predominantly Djinnae-run corporations. Crime and bribery are rampant, fueled by drug cartels owned by the very businessmen that own the legitimate businesses. The divide between rich and poor is almost unspeakable, and the tourist industry tries to discreetly sweep all examples of the underlying rot under a golden exterior.

Gestahl

Yori

One of the minor protectorates of Gestahl, Yory could easily be called a theocracy, though many who refuse to even entertain the idea of it as a nation simply think of it as a large cult. Composed entirely of Vitare, this city-state lies under the control of a religious order creatively called the Rise of Yori, which preaches isolationism, Vitare-supremacy, and the corrupting influence of the ‘Underworld’ beneath their floating continent.

Gestahl’s reappearance and the arrival of Kefkan and Jechtian influences has sent shockwaves through Yori and its people. Preachers proclaim the end times, and militia groups form to resist the coming corrupting forces. In particular, they decry the Mitare as the spawn of sinners and apostates, and can call for action against them up to and including ethnic cleansing.

Yori’s city is a collection of tall spires, with dwellings and administrative buildings built atop them. Flight is absolutely required to access them, and airships have virtually no accommodation – any who don’t fly under their own power are filthy, sinful animals, after all.
