New Granada is one of the small handful of EU worlds that make significant use of transgenic technology. However, their use of transgenics is both more subtle and much more regulated then is commonly found in ZOCU or other heavy transgenic powers. Like many things there are pros and cons to this approach. While the government and the majority of the population support the EU there are also a significant minority of ZOCU sympathizers within the population. Some experts believe that New Granada did not have many "loyalty issues" during the ZOCU war only due to existing tensions with the ZOCU world of Haraway and the presence of a potent EU Deep Space Fleet base in New Granada's star system.
