===The World===
New Granada is a relatively temperate world which required only moderate terraforming to be suitable for human habitation. It has three large continents (uncreatively named East, South, West) that are undergoing the slow process of splitting apart and a significant number of island chains.

===History===
New Granada was originally founded by the Thyssen-Krupp corporation after the discovery of a large post-human data core during the early stages of the terraforming process. Rather then being sponsored by any one EU nation, the colony was directly sponsored by the corporation and its settlers came from all over the EU. It later grew to prominence due to the quality of the research facilities attempting to unlock the secrets of the data core as well as its strategic location connecting a number of colonies, which led to the system being chosen for a EU Deep Space Fleet base.

In modern times New Granada is a full fledged member of the EU, with a civilian and non-corporate government.

===The Nation===
New Granada is one of the small handful of European Union worlds that makes significant use of transgenic technology. However, Granadin transgenics tend to be fairly subtle and are quite heavily regulated by the Augmentation Acts of 2064, the same acts which rolled back the earlier restrictions. While the government and a majority of the population are loyal to the EU there is a significant minority who feels alienated by the EU's stance on transgenics.

There are ongoing tensions between the republic and Haraway's World, primarily focused on a number of systems between the two powers.
