In the post-twilight era, it was felt that the tv show about the trials and tribulations of the imperial family of Tyran required a reboot, in order to differentiate itself from the pretty and sparkly vampires of that franchise.

Background

Tyran

The world of Tyran is a desolate realm, over a shattered megacities dot a landscape of grey earth, patched with struggling greenery and dangerous ancient forests who bathe in the harsh light of the sun. The Federated Convoys are scattered across the supercontinent that still supports human life, wandering in vast and ancient Wagon-Trains whose aging systems provide life and protection in a dangerous world of feral creatures and radioactive rainstorms. The Vault Dwellers reside underground refusing to deal with the overground world, while in the ruined capital, something untoward is said to stalk the streets.

Old Tyran, of not much is generally known other than the personal experience of some vampires. They say Tyran was the seat of a small Empire where numerous noble families wrestled for influence and power.

History

The rumours of the Night Stalker Project were discounted for many in the Capital Vault and ridiculed entirely by the ruling surfacers who lived in luxury in the shielded upper vault which towered over the ruined city. The rumours however were quite true, an ancient house of the Tyran Imperium had experimented with vampirism as the godswar raged, hoping to build a retinue of immortal vampire soldiers from which they could claim power over the entire planet. As the planet fell, the surviving members of the household infected themselves and fled into the secret laboratories of the deep Vault.

A century ago they began to awake, sensing that enough mortals existed to sustain their appetite. They emerged slowly, gaining the allegiance of the undertrodden vault dwellers and surprising the surfacers who turned out to be nothing more than a few thousand reclusive people, content to let their every whim be managed by robots.

After securing their power and re-establishing an Imperial state, the vampires incorporated the human populance with suprising leniency, though the surfacers were dragged off never to be heard from again, the loyal deep vaulters were given citizenship in exchange for the blood oath, which required a 'donation' to their liege lord in exchange for continuing privileges.

The Night Stalkers

While those on Tyran call them the Night Stalkers, many also call them vampires, Tyrusians refer to themselves as immortals. Immortals are roughly human in appearance, with white marble skin and blood red eyes. They posses only hair on their heads, a stark white and possess sharp clawed fingers. Though many apt a more human appearance in order to blend with populations. Central to the Night Stalkers is the Veneration of the Blood, it is not merely a dietary requirement, it is a compulsion and key to their mystical existence. A Stalker denied blood who cannot enter torpor regresses into an animal, losing much of it’s humanoid appearance and sustaining itself on any mortal food source. Blood teems with mystical energies not perceptible to humans, but keenly felt by Stalkers which gives them their immortality and physical toughness.

Immortals are created either by infecting a human with vampiric virus or by cloning a existing vampire. In preparation for the coming war, millions of vampires were cloned from existing vampires and human soldiers thought worthy of the honor.
