Pillars

The city of Pillar, named for its position built up one of the structural columns connecting the ground with the sky, is the financial and political centre of this layer of the world - not that this means as much as it used to with the political fragmentation of recent times. It’s a miracle the cellphone network works at all. The monopoly on force has broken down, ether-warped monsters are menacing the highways, and war threatens between the chaotic new government in Pillar and surrounding provinces threatening to declare independent identities. Such a war might threaten the integrity of the structural column itself, but nontheless a rare statement from OVERSEER declared that they have no intent to alter their policy of noninterference in intra-layer affairs.
