Pact Version

  • A1) Longshot Accident (+ fabbers)
    • In 2073, a large group of researchers and soldiers at a remote outpost on Luna were tinkering with a longshot colony ship, designed to more easily transport a group of colonists and their basic supplies from Earth to the far frontiers of space. Somebody dialed the wrong number during a test jump, and it didn't go well.
  • A2) Dominantly Baseline (+ pop, + logistics)
    • The inhabitants of the intentionally misleadingly-named Roswell Facility were a mixed bag of baselines from across North America. Also present for the test were research teams from Australia and Japan - unfortunately, they missed their flights home.
  • A3) Hell World (go to A5)
    • The Roswell Facility's inhabitants found themselves on the blistering surface of a desert world, many years' travel from the nearest human outpost, even with the fastest drives available to humanity at the time. Given its' similarity to the bleak locale from which they'd come, they named it New Roswell.
  • A5) Tough It Out (+ morale, balls)
    • Fortunately for the 'colonists', the planet had a great number of deep valleys in which temperatures were considerably more comfortable and caves in which water was found to collect. It is here they set up their first settlement.
  • B1) Artifact Find (+ dust, go to B4)
    • One day, while poking around in the vicinity of their new home, some of the researchers discovered functioning posthuman facilities. Why or how it had gotten there remains unknown, but they have proven a boon to the colony since their discovery, their arcane systems the source of the first desert-world adaptations.
  • B4) Active Machinery (+ theta, - dust)
    • No one knows or even understands why such systems would be placed on such a world. It is suspected that they were placed on New Roswell for the specific purpose of being able to work through their incomprehensible programs unmolested. If the posthumans that created these installations ever found out, they'd probably be livid.
  • C1) Artifact Find (+ dust, go to B4)
    • While the scientists were marvelling at the posthuman complexes, the experimental fabbers that had been brought along churned into action. It is theorized that the discovery of the posthuman complexes somehow modified their construction queues.
  • C2) Extra Fabs (+ fabbers)
    • Nobody was complaining, though. Desert cloaks for everyone!
  • D1) Catapulted (+ wealth, Go to D4)
    • When the Breakdown came in the 2150s, Roswell had already been in contact with PACT for the better part of four decades and had become economically codependent. Fortunately, they remained in contact with the Core and became the terminus of the primary PACT catapult route.
  • D4) Catapult Construction (+ dust, + PIP)
    • During the Breakdown, Roswellian engineers pioneered many new and inventive ways to fling a hundred-thousand-ton freighter from one planet to another. Some of them even worked. Those that didn't...were quickly replaced.
  • E1) Sign the PACT (+ wealth, - theta, go to H1)
    • When ZOCU formed and several PACT worlds seceded to join it, Roswell found itself on the front lines, supported by the industrial and financial might of America and the rest of the PACT as war was waged against ZOCU.
  • H1) Transhumanize! (+ transgene, + CIP, + tech, - morale)
    • With contact finally re-established with Earth and PACT, the technology to complete the adaptation for survival on Roswell was finally readily available. The problem, of course, was that some did not willingly embrace it.
  • H2) Blood For Dust (+ theta, ++ logistics, - morale)
    • In 2180, the nearby world of Silver suffered a military coup d'etat. Roswell, with American support, intervened 'on the behalf of the people of Silver' to enact a 'regime change'. Not everyone supported this, but that's life at the edge of civilization.
  • H3) Zoom and Boom (+ military, + air doctrines, ++ aircraft tech)
    • Roswell's brilliant researchers have turned Roswell into a technological powerhouse. Their 'multistate' transforming aircraft designs are the bleeding edge of PACT aerospace technology.
  • Chaotic) Ran Outta People (+ computer tech, - pop)
    • With such a tiny population, it quickly became necessary to automate as much of the gruntwork as possible.
