FTL II engines (and perhaps others) can be further researched starting at FTL II become FTLIIc engines - 60% smaller than full engines (size determuined by class of ship using the engine). The engines however can be 'slaved' together to become mroe thant he sum of their parts, and can be utilized to create 'warp conduits' by which .

Larger ships int he back, smaler in the front.

Ships make a corridor to move through.

New trains are made when a aengine and cabbose are made. Every ship has engines, term is hust

Weapons are based on the idea that eaxch ship will be part of a larger whole, and will defend those onfront and behind partly. Enginesa have nose weapondry, Engines have weapons ionm the rear.

Post train era train cars are made sometimes by governments who decide to try and make 10 cars (2 engines included) to chain together so they can them together and make the first of a theoretical 'galaxy hopper' train type that would cross the galaxy in days despite the poorer tech. (Some terains actually got close to this but never got it fully right. Using multiple trains decreases the 'performance boost' given to having more cars, so it was a elusive goal, but a visible one.) Make a reason for this to be harder than it sounds (100 cars? Seriously? That's easy to attain, easy to nearlty attain. Maybe it's harder the more cars you have - they have to be 'more alike' the more cars you add to the train.) Curentl y
