EEF Fleet

The Emmerian Expeditionary Force departed Emmeriaspace almost 120 years ago with an invasion fleet made of newly-built warships. In addition to the two SDFs (SDF-08 Gugulanna and SDF-09 LeMay) that acted as flagships, a large number of smaller ships were co-jumped. These ranged from capital-scale combatants and carriers to small escorts.
Further copies of the EEF-pattern ships were built in Rubicon to support the war effort against the Mastery of Suns, but they have slowly been superceded by other, more recent designs. Many were part of the relief fleet returning to Emmeriaspace, while many of the remainder were seized from deep-space materiel storage depots. The remainder were scrapped to ensure that no others would be turned against their former masters. Today, outside of the Trinity fleet, the only remaining EEF-era warships are a handful transferred to 3rd party nations and a couple thoroughly demilitarized and immobilized as museum ships.

Protector fleet carrier

The largest EEF warship save the pair of SDFs themselves, the Protectors were massive warships in their own rights at well over four hundred meters long. Sharing many design features with the larger SDFs, the five of them built were regularly at the forefront of all major campaigns. By the end of the war against the Mastery two of these ships were destroyed, with a third damaged beyond worthwhile repair and idled in Rubicon to be eventually converted to an orbiting museum ship. The fourth was jumped back to Emmeriaspace as part of the great relief fleet while the fifth was seized during the Concord Civil War, having been the flagship for the Second Interstellar Fleet of Freedom ever since.

Courbet fleet carrier

EEF carrier.jpg
Deployed to bolster the already-prodigious small craft capacity of the EEF's SDFs or on their own, the Courbet was an otherwise unexceptional fleet carrier, noted more for its ease of construction than anything else. They were surprisingly well-armed with seven high-caliber beam turrets, except in order to control cost and internal volume, these were capacitor-fed which drastically reduced their rate of fire past the first few salvos. As such they were only useful defensively, being powerful enough to dissuade any marauding attack ship while the carrier made its escape.

Gracemaria battlecruiser

Error creating thumbnail: File missing
The most common capital ship of the EEF, the Gracemaria battlecruisers were generalized combatants and did much of the conventional battle-line work for the EEF. Armed with blast-artillery and antiship missiles, the Gracemarias could hold their own against all but the largest Mastery command ships. A ventral hangar normally holding 6-8 mecha gave them a bit of extra versatility, though this was a distinctly secondary capability. The size and resilience of these battlecruisers also saw them regularly used as squadron or fleet flagships.

Orchid frigate

EEF frigate.jpg
The second smallest and second most common warship in the original EEF, the Orchid (or sometimes Flower) frigates were the screening vessels and generalists of the fleet. Modestly armed, their main design feature was the large forward hangar that took up almost half of the ship's volume, turning the ship into something of a hybrid carrier-escort. This hangar could be endlessly reconfigured and used for not just combat mecha deployment, but recon craft support or even impromptu marine assault ships. Worked hard, many crews shared something of a love-hated relationship with the Orchids, appreciating the fact that they were always kept busy but disliking the fact that, to them, it often seemed to be a lot of make-work.

Serpent destroyer

EEF destroyer.gif
The smallest and most common warship of the EEF, the Serpents filled the archetypical escort role. Their primarily armament was a single high-cailber dual beam turret and a bow section dedicated to reloadable missile launchers for air intercept. Like other expeditionary force era ships it is considered obselete today, though surprising number of these aged ships are still serving in third party navies, often with their bow launcher section gutted and replaced with other hardware.
