The SYN
History:
One of the companies involved in the early transgenic experiments, attempted to make people that were more intelligent, less aggressive, more creative and scientifically minded. The experiments were not as unsuccessful as the others, but issues presented when individuals were docile to the point of in-action even if threatened, or experienced other psychological issues, including hypersomnia and social dysfunction.

The Syn as they are commonly called, are a group of radical transgenics who have focused on excising themselves from the perceived negative influences of evolution and common human traits.
Their cognition has been reworked to remove sexual lust and competitive behaviour, thus also removing jealously and associated aggressive behaviour. Syn are inherently genderless, with no sexual characteristics other than an agreeable human form in order to facilitate a pleasing aesthetic and deal diplomatically with humans.
Syn are highly emphatic, with heightened responses to distress in others and naturally cooperate and share.
The structure of society begins with the basic social unit, of 20 individuals who live communely in a residence. The individuals will normally be of the same genetic line, as Syn’s are born in groups of 20
As highly social animals, Syn’s usually require company at all times.
Syn’s often engage in what appears to be competitive behaviour, structured sports exist and scores may be kept, but only in order to satisfy the curiosity of who is more able at the task. ‘Losers’ will often be as elated to discover who is ‘better’ as the ‘winners’.
It should be noted Syn’s are inherently dependant on a technological base. As engineered creatures, they are adapted to a high tech environment,
Broad Biology:
Syn’s are about 4 and half feet tall, with generally child-like faces, multicoloured eyes and minimal hair.
They have no secondary sexual characteristics, with combined waste system’s in the posterior.
Syn’s express individual identify through their bioluminescent marks which are unique to each individual, which are used to indicate various emotional stresses involuntary to quickly alert others to distress.
Syn’s have a strong ingroup mentality, which has lead to a degree of xenophobia towards humans, their empathic markers are tied towards the bioluminescent display of emotion and thus they would find a human crying to be more a curiosity than a cause for concern, ignoring the factor they are programmed to respond to humans empathically at a greatly reduced level.

Geography
The Main Ridge is an important geological feature, the vast majority of settlements on Fuso lie upon the shore opposite a large island chain. The sea within this chain of islands houses several important Posthuman structures, from which the majority of Fuso’s theta dust is extracted. Theta site Hiei is home to thousands, who live and work in the extraction facilities that coat the exterior of the posthuman diamondoid tower and also extend along the maglev tunnel leading to New Edo’s theta integration plants.
