Allied Nations of Cythira

Two hundred and three years ago, an archeological expedition into the Great Western Range of Cythira's harsh northern continent uncovered the ruins of the original Goa'uld installation on the planet. Even a cursory examination of the site was world shattering, all of the half forgotten myths and legends of humanity's arrival on the planet were grounded in horrible reality. Within a year, the warring powers that had dominated the planet in the years leading up to the Discovery had begun to set aside their differences and established the Allied Nations. No expense would be spared, no corner cut. The dimly remembered monsters would not be allowed to return.

Although the AN never succeeded in recovering Cythira's original stargate, the ancient ruins proved to be a treasure trove that greatly accelerated the world state's technological progress. Cythirans went from having just visited their planet's moon to traveling to nearby star systems within a matter of decades. One long distance expedition recovered a stargate, and confirmed what everyone dreaded. The Goa'uld still lurked out in the darkness, lording over an unimaginably vast empire. And it would likely only be a matter of time until they returned. Preparations were made as a perpetual atmosphere of crisis settled over the planet.

Forty-five years ago, they arrived. The Goa'uld Kakia, defeated by a rival, returned to Cythiran local space with her remaining warships and warriors. What she found was not the mostly forgotten mining settlement she'd left behind, but a human force with technology nearing her own. The war lasted for several bloody years as Kakia's forces battled their way through Cythira's outlying defenses and warships. Ha'taks settled into orbit, turning their guns on the surface and laying waste to major cities and centers of resistance. Vast legions of Jaffa descended to do battle with the defenders on the surface.

But in that last desperate hour, the remnants of the AN Fleet struck back. Commander Anaximander Sarris's battle squadron broke through Kakia's pickets and successfully attacked her flagship, destroying it and throwing the invasion force into disarray. Without their goddess leading them, the remaining Jaffa were annihilated by vengeful Cythiran soldiers and spacers. They had won, but the cost had been unimaginable.

Cythiran civilization had survived, barely. The survivors began to dig themselves out of the ruins as the remnants of the AN military struggled to maintain order. In the aftermath of the war, Commander Sarris was elected Hegemon. The victorious hero's cult of personality kept the shattered world intact, where perhaps otherwise pessimism might have brought it to complete ruin. Everyone expected another wave of invaders, of which there would be no hope of resisting. But none came, and as the years grew into decades Cythira has pieced itself back together. But if you ask anyone on the streets, the next war is still lurking just over the horizon.

Traits

Combined Arms
Descended from the conventional forces of the old Cythiran nation-states, the AN Surface Forces are well equipped with assorted fighting vehicles and heavy weapons.
Turtle
The Cythiran Planetary Defense Grid has been rebuilt and constantly upgraded since the end of the war against Kakia. Warrens of bunkers lurk just below the surface and constellations of armed satellites are new stars in the sky above the planet.
Heavy Construction
The completion of the Hegemon Sarris after several painstaking years of construction has at last given the AN Fleet a mothership class vessel.
Superior Technology
Two centuries of research and considerable tech salvage have given Cythira a technological base at least as good as any in Goa'uld Space.
Enhanced Starships (Tough)
After having suffered grievous casualties during the war, the AN Fleet reevaluated its priorities for new ships. Survival became paramount over all other traits.
Terrible Ruler
Anaximander Sarris was not a young man when he led the fleet to victory, and many long hard years as Hegemon have not been kind to him. There are those within AN High Command who have begun to wonder if their aged commander remains completely sane.
NID Activity
The Red Ring of Death, the Leda Cabal, and a dozen others. The AN Forces are lousy with conspiracies these days. Everyone has their own idea about what the future should bring.

Troia

The AN Outpost hidden in the forests of Troia eluded Goa'uld detection and survived the destruction of the Cythiran Perimeter. It is now the most distant of Cythira's holdings, generally accessed only by stargate.

AN Military Forces

Trierarch Class Cruisers

These new cruisers now are the workhorses of the AN Fleet, a designed and built using new technology and incorporating lessons learned from earlier wartime cruiser classes.
