Zephiris
The Adamantine Sovereignty of Zephir
The Sovereignty of Zephir rules over mountains clad in blue snow, marked by great growths of azure crystals that reach up into the sky. From the mountain’s sapphire summit, a spring births a icy river flow curving around the Crystal Peak shedding sediments along its path that breathe life into crops, before gently winding down through the shallower valley hills at the base of the Mountains, through the First Fortress and out into the plains of Lemuria.
Zephiron
Zephiron is located at the top of the mountain valley that defines the central region of the nation. With the Crystal Peak of Mt Nibelon framing the horizon, the river valley has a narrow profile, though the river itself is wide and boisterous. Zephiron itself forms on both sides of the valley, in terraces built from stone, iron or literally carved from the earth. The two sections of the city are joined together, by the Central Keep. The Keep rises from the middle of the river, where an emanation of mana has created a bluish crystal bedrock. Rising steeply, it is a pillar of bright stone and resembles a great sword stabbed into the waters, its hilt stretched to form two great bridges that connect the city, while the pommel forms of the Palace of the Sovereign. Several waterwheels power a screw that lifts water up from the river, to the keep from where aqueducts flow to the city. The abundance of water is such that public foundations line the major streets and drinking water is never lacking.
The Zephi Asgar
The Mark of Zephiris is an white blueish pallor like smooth marble, hair the colour of lightning, white shot with shades of blue and ravaging eyes of sapphire fire. The Progeny of those who bear her blood are cool and reticent in their demure. They are cold iron wills fuelled by a belief in their own superiority as her children. Those of particular pure blood sometimes show the faintest of scales, curious reptilian patterns forming subtly in the skin. The Mark has left their skin sensitive to the rigours of the lowland sun, the fogs and mists of their mountain realm have has left their skin unused to the warm glare of the sun, they prefer the moons glow under the stars. Often the Zephirus will wear careful scales of prized metals, softly adhered to their skin, though the poorest (and many would say, weakest blooded) among them would make do with powdered ores of lesser metals dirty rubbed into the skin. Zephi are also known for an unusual taste in weather, preferring storms, rain and cold temperatures to the usual warmer climes that humanity finds pleasant.
Thin Bloods
A darker side of the Mark is those who bear it weakly. There is a certain level of tolerance weaker blood, most commoners fall into social classes themselves based on the strength of their blood, the weakest fall into a special class. They are those who are forbidden to breed, magically stripped of the ability to procreate for the protection of the blood. ==The
The Divine Source
The Divine Source of Zephiris is said to be a cold and calculating divine aspect. Typically referred to as female, she displays the features of Dragons, Angels and a darker ‘vampiric’ side.
The Magnates of Zephiris
The most importance currency in Zephi society, is blood. The strength of a Zephi’s divine essence is a important factor of stature and power. While other societies have little physical rational behind assignments of nobility, Zephi can quite clearly distinguished based on the strength of their bloodline.
The Great Houses
There is a threshold in Zephiri society rarely spoken of, a boundary beyond which the form of the god-blooded becomes something inherently inhuman, when the manifestations of their God cause their apptite to wilter and a thirst for blood to develop. The dark nature of the Great Houses is a rumoured few dare speak, though in private the three great houses show no shame of their desires, there is always a cost when dealing with the divine.
