St Aleister's College

An institution in the south of England with a paper-thin masquerade as a university specialising in humanities. In truth, it trains mages, consors and the families of hermetics. The Technocracy knows of its existence, but tolerates it as a focus for intelligence gathering, and too well-defended to simply destroy. Instead they hope to slowly squeeze it out by the marketisation and STEMification of higher education. It is NOT named for Aleister Crowley, it's the other way around, I can't believe people are STILL getting this wrong, don't any freshers read the guide these days?

St Aleister's is a sanctuary from the technocratic world. But as any Hermetic can tell you, simply being among the enlightened is no insulation from peril.

Students

Name, year, degree course, vital statistics, etc.

Naomi Lee

  • Verbena antisocial delinquent youth.
  • Sent to St. Aleister's to become a proper lady mage, but remains antisocial.
  • Changes classes. Doesn't really like any of them. Cuts classes. Sleeps around. College.

Yion Guin

  • Dreamspeaker technoshaman of no particular lineage, great shamanistic ancestry or tradition who awakened mostly by accident while tripping on LSD during a concert. Received the highest blessing (or curse) from the Celestine of Lost Mythology after a spirited discussion about old cartoons, which imparts the power of hauntology, or wistfulness towards a missing past that never existed.
  • Banished sent to St St Aleister's College after a council of Dreamspeaker elders decided it was a bad idea for a young Dreamspeaker with such an obscene power (not even subject to Paradox) to be running around without greater understanding of the world of mages and umbrood.
  • Is doing a dual major in Umbrood PolySci and Music Theory. Dislikes the traditional teachers being so dismissive of electronic music, which can be just as instrumentally sophisticated as other genres. Gets along better with Virtual Adepts and Etherites than other mystics, despite having an incredibly low Banality score.
  • Is considered at-risk of becoming a Marauder, although this isn't public knowledge except for the Dreamspeakers on staff and school administration.
  • Is probably(?) a guy.

Tara Cotshire

  • Hermetic explorer of a lineage of other British explorers going back to the empire, an expert on ancient languages, and at athletics, daring do and archeology. It extremely willing to experiment and discover new crafts built on the old.
  • Is studying archeology, ancient lore and post-colonialism. Is generally thought of as a model student by her teachers, and not disliked by her peers, as she's willing to ask questions, and seeks to explain stuff to classmates.
  • Has a sister who she dislikes as the darling of the family despite being younger.
  • Has a whole host of tales from her time raiding various tombs
  • Is half Egyptian.
