An Aberrant 2.1 game that adds some quirks to the way that Gadgets work, and translates it to a futuristic setting that incorporates fantastic and post-apocalyptic elements. Inspired by Blue Submarine No. 6, Final Fantasy and Brink.

Background

For one reason or another, human beings of the second millennium did not or could not avert the melting of the polar icecaps and the rise of the oceans. Much of civilization was lost to the sea and the ensuing wars over the remaining resources on the surface led to untold loss of life and the collapse of the old governments. The very bleeding edge of science was able to prevent the world from becoming entirely inhospitable to humans, but resulted in much of the world becoming seeded with plant and animal life that is actively dangerous to humans.

Humanity now survives in the world's thirteen remaining city-states, known as Acropoli by the majority of people, under the auspices of the Aeon Unity, a theocratic regime which controls access to many of the more dangerous secrets of pre-flood technology. Beyond the cities which pay homage to Aeon, scattered and primitive settlements exist in pockets of wilderness that remained relatively placcid. Others cling to the rusting shells of ancient boats and submarines, sailing vessels and tangled masses of wood and metal that pass for mobile settlements on the seas that dominate the Earth. For those beyond the polished white walls of Shinjuku Babel or Neo Venezia, the world is dangerous- life cheap and often short.

All this changed with the appearance of Divis Mal, a rebel member of the Aeon Unity who revealed himself to humanity and sent out coursing waves of power across the world. In an instant, nearly every human being was imprinted with varying degrees of latency and had the potential for Quantum etched into their genes. The Unity was swift to respond with its Legions, bringing a small majority of these empowered humans within their territories under heel, but many escaped and their numbers grow by the day.

The era heralds great changes... wrought by the children Divis Mal's legacy, the beings known as Novas.
