Mechanics

Idol

A character's idol is what they wish to be or achieve. Sisyphus has the idol of getting the boulder to the top of the hill. Tantalus has the idol of eating a good meal. Lucifer has the idol of overthrowing Heaven.

Torment

A character's torment is what they want to avoid but are doomed to constantly confront, such as being enslaved, losing somebody precious, or being burned alive. Characters have a reduced ability to avoid or resist their torment, but experiencing it may grant willpower.

Fetters

A fetter is something a character's afterlife is metaphysically bound to and which forms part of their image. A murderer may carry the bloodstained murder weapon forever as a mark of their crime. All player characters have Pandaemonium Academy Student as an imposed fetter. Fetters can arise from oneself or be imposed by others and can grant bonuses, penalties and constraints.

Powerful infernals try to exert power over others by fettering them, but hellizens may also accept fetters to preserve their identity.

Domains

Like spheres, but with narrower scope.

Stats

Str, Dex, Sta, whatever/etc. Skills too.

Will

A key resource moreso than in Mage. You expend will to change the world.
