Riai Sathir - Scientist developing experimental hyperdrive in the Pan-System Union. Denied safety clearance and funding for legitimate bullshit reasons, she takes it on herself to test her new invention and see what hyperspace looks like to human eyes. If worst comes to worst she'll just crash out back in normal space somewhere near Mars and set off her distress beacon...
