The Reconnect

The Reconnect is not just a area of space, it exists physically as the series of large international T-Gates capable of handling a large volume of traffic, the Reconnect network connects all the polities in known space together, the highways of the interstellar network.

As an area of space, politically it comprises 314 Inhabited Star Systems, consisting of over fifty nominal states. These are spread over a wide area, though contained within a small geography area relative to the rest of the galaxy. There are 50,000 stars within the confines of the Reconnect's physical boundaries.

The Dark Roads

The Dark Roads are a series of dangerous T-Gate connections spread across the connect. They are unofficial and un-monitored and fraught with dangers, natural, human or more esoteric. Some connections appear to be through some sort of mega-structure, it's dimensions are unknown, but spaceships can easily cross the connections that traverse it.

Various routes have been mapped, some are even considered relatively safe and desperate traders or smugglers may use them to avoid attention or cut corners.

The Megastructure

The most famous part of the Dark Roads are those that traverse the megastructure. It's location in the galaxy is unknown, as the T-Gates within it are fully enclosed from space, some even possessing a breathable atmosphere. The only constant is that there is a pair of T-Gates within each section of the structure one encounters, other than that, the sections vary in size, some barely large enough for a ship, others capable of housing entire cities or space stations.
