Kerrus' mini-concepts for gods
Mo'radra, Speaker of the Ancients
Mo'rada is a god of knowledge, law, and community. Manifesting as a massive statue, Mo'rada gives advice to hundreds of petitioners each day, and his disciples spread his words far and wide. His chief temple is located in the divinity district of the city of Motif, where a number of statues represent him.
Mo'rada is perhaps the oldest of the gods, and identifies himself as a 'speaker' for the ancients, the first intelligent beings to walk the world back before time itself. Though long departed- or perhaps ascended to divine rank, Mo'rada presents fortunes based on their values, and his disciples gain his grace through charity and community work.
Mo'rada's favoured weapon is the Shovel Axe (Monk Spade). His annual day of worship is the 12th of March.
Mo'rada grants the following domains:
Good, Community, Earth, Knowledge, Rune
Knevash, of the Hundred Year War
An ascended mortal, Knevash was once a monk who was born during a conflict known as the hundred year war between two ancient kingdoms. Growing up admist the chaos of that time, he grew in strength, power, and dedication, to a point where the war only persisted because he refused to stop fighting. Faced with an eternal war which benefitted nobody, people on both sides came together to petition the gods to intervene. Yet every boon that was offered to Knevash was rejected. Only when the gods relented and offered Knevash a place among their number- did he agree- and even then, all that changed was a matter of scope. No longer waging war on mortals, Knevash now fought for all of heaven, in an eternal war fitting to sate his hunger against implacable and unending enemies aplenty.
Knevash grants the following domains:
War, Strength, Destruction, Chaos, Animal
Aesh'tan, Master of the Cycle
Aesh'tan is a deity of contradictions and cycles, of beginings, ends, and continuances. Both male and female, depending on the phases of the moon, Aes'tan presides over the newly dead, and the yet to be born, shepherding souls from the great wellspring to the world of mortals, and guiding the dead to their chosen afterlife.
One night in seven, Aesh'tan is said to hold the Night Court, where he his judge, and the souls of the recently deceased are the jury. Petitioners may entreat him through his temples, prayer- or even their dreams- and he will hear their case and pass judgement on them, manifesting as a being of pure living jade.
Aesh'tan grants the following domains:
Death, Void, Healing, Law, Repose
Siirath, the First to Stand Alone
It is said that during the prehistory of the world, before time existed when everything that ever was fought a battle for existence against the primordial ones, that Siirath came to be born on the brightest noonday of the first year of recorded history in an age when gods walked the earth. The creation of a god of what would become elfkind, she was the first of ones who would live deep in the southern continents, adapted to the intense heat and glaring sunlight by their dark skin and pale hair.
These elves were to be soldiers and sages, servants and slaves in the fight against the primordial, and Siirath was the first among them. Born free, she could not help but curse her creator after seeing her brothers and sisters born into bondage, bereft of even the memory of freedom, just useful tools in a war. While the war for creation was certainly necessary, Siirath knew that the Gods were winning- very soon the Primordials would be dead or sealed. Very soon her people would be slaves forever, trapped in bindings of the mind- of culture and belief, brainwashed by that which called itself 'righteous'.
So Siirath did what became the core of her identity. She rebelled. In doing so, she presented her brothers and sisters with an alternative, and many joined in the cause. Those were days when there were no sublime realms awaiting mastery of the divine, and the gods only walked the earth. That great being which created her could not countenance such a rebellion, and sought to punish all all of Siirath's brothers and sisters for the actions of a few.
In doing so, it turned its latest children into a force which would destroy it. Its temples were smashed, its priests were killed, and a great war erupted between the elder children and the newest- these dark elves- the drow. The cost of the conflict was high, and the divide grew ever greater until the great god could no longer embody it. Weakened, Siirath led the oldest of the drow on a daring raid against the great god while it was recovering it strength, and sundered it in its place of power, siezing a spark of its divine essence.
With it Siirath become a goddess- a champion of her people and a warrior against oppression. Deprived of a key piece of itself, the great god soon passed on- but not before elevating the eldest of the eldest, the highest of its first children with the last of its divine essence, to shepherd their people. The other two gods of the eldest- the elves- have always resented Siirath's actions, for they see the great god's slavery as love, and the great god's bondage of their people as the guiding hand of a caring parent.
So too does the curse of the great god against her people linger, though Siirath has done much to mitigate its pain.
Siirath grants the following domains:
Liberation, Glory, Darkness, Sun, Charm
Baalel Artan, the Lattice of the Heavens
If Motif can be said to have a soul, then the Baalel Artan is it. At once a structure, idol, temple, and testament, the Baalel Artan is a massive fifteen storey structure built out a crystalline lattice of individual woven threads of precious gems. Thought to have been forged- or perhaps grown- during the early days of the world and appearing in Motif sometime later, the Baalel Artan or 'indescribable' in the language of the ancients according to Mo'hadra, is as much a physical structure as a metaphysical one, the axis mundi, the living, breathing convergence of magic and intellect of the city- and perhaps the world.
Occupying a significant portion of the city, the Baalel Artan is a constant reminder of the divinity present in the world- an open structure that weaves and wends through the city, while many countless smaller structures dot the ground beneath it. Its disciples carry cast off shards of the structure, which heals its own injuries and lends a spark of inspiration to any with the ambition to use it.
The Baalel Artan's genius locus grants the following domains:
Artifice, Madness, Plant, Luck, Magic.
