She was head hunted for the Unaligned Constellation for a ridiculous fee, and has nowhere else to go.

Background: Michelle du Lac is a rather (in)famous war hero from the Hegemony of French nationality who fought as a ranking officer in one of the Hegemony's highly elite foreign citizen unit known as the "megale hetaireia", or Great Company. Traumatically wounded multiple times throughout her career, it's rumored one of her limbs is entirely prosthetic. She defected(?!) for unknown reasons. Many question the sincerity of this change of heart, and her sanity, given her that she has performed the Hegemony salute at inappropriate moments despite visibly struggling to restrain herself. It's joked that she's caused more damage to the G.33 by defecting than she has by fighting against it.
