Karine is a wandering serpent Lunar from mid-eastern Creation. After inserting herself into the party from an island clear on the other side of the world, she becomes the circle's main Lunar, leaving Winter as something of a spare. Unlike the rest of the cast, she rarely goes out of her way to score points or raise flags with Ten Leaf, making Karine True End the most difficult good ending in the game to obtain. She is the last playable character to join the party and the weakest combatant, but makes up for it with quick wits and a large array of ancillary skills. She often goes offscreen for extended periods between climactic scenes, pursuing objectives that usually benefit the group in addition to herself. Her default yuri rating is 85%.

Background

Karine hails from a certain city in mid-eastern Creation. She has never given a straight answer as to which one, though she said once that it was not Nexus. A wanderer by nature, she has spent decades travelling from city to city through creation as an eternal tourist, messing with mortals and causing a myriad of miscellaneous troubles. Oddly for a Lunar, Karine absolutely despises the wilderness and considers knowing how to find the next city to be the most important aspect of survival.

Karine's spirit shape is that of a hideously poisonous snake and her words are as forked and crooked as her tongue. On the same token, Karine would rather avoid a fight then actually strike and spends far more time sleeping than one expects. Due to her annoyingly take-it-easy approach, most of the older Lunars involved in getting her on her feet are suitably displeased, with one suggesting she should have been a turtle. In fact, Karine is more attuned to her Spirit side than most Lunars, and animals - especially cold-blooded ones - simply do not take unnecessary actions. Karine never overlooks inaction as a course of action, especially since it gives her more time to shop, flirt, explore, or bask in the sun. Incidentally, while Karine doesn't look any snakier than usual, her close attunement to her totem shape actually limits her shifting abilities and makes her quite bad with cold weather.
