Type 88 assault rifle
The Type 88 was developed and produced in the early 40's to replace the bolt action rifles that had remained essentially unchanged since the late 19th century. It was the world's first assault rifle and a revolutionary weapon at the time, greatly outclassing the semi-automatic battle rifles other powers were then introducing. The rest of the world has since turned out peer weapons and even the newest model, the Type 88-3, shows the shortcomings of its decades old pedigree. Compared to its Lian counterparts, the Plan1088 and 1089 rifles, the Type 88 is heavy and difficult to control, but hits very hard and is reliable despite its fine tolerances. It outwardly resembles a StG-44 or AK-47, having a large curved magazine and audibly distinct report and action.
