Krenn Info

All Krenn are insectoid, and operate on a sort of automatic dominate the lessers, be dominated by the superiors' setup. All non-Krenn life are lessers, so the Krenn naturally work to dominate them in every aspect- physical, cultural, social- they aim to be superior, though that superiority also includes a total lack of respect for the lessers.

This is a biological imperative, and the Krenn are themselves aware it exists, but have (that you know) taken no steps to eliminate or restrict it, because it's just how they work. So like, the Krenn leader dominates all other lesser Krenn, whom automatically defer to it and its imperatives. Any Krenn warlord might have a collection of lesser Krenn under its command, whom automatically defer to it (in its presence).

While there's some degree of political plotting, for the Krenn it all comes down to self improving, be that training to be better (biologically Krenn have no limit to how much they can improve), or sourcing some new find, technology, development, cultural or social model from them. Krenn don't 'lie' about the origin of things, and there's a consideration that the particular individual that brings something under the domination of the empire to be made superior by the magnitude of that find.

So naturally invading the Alpha and Beta quadrants was a major push that elevated a lot of lesser Krenn to higher positions.

Some Krenn are of the Explorer subtype, and is much less fanatic than the warrior subtype. Explorers are, occasionally, willing to take measures to suppress their innate requirement to dominate other species, particularly if it means they can make contact with species that can provide them interesting things that might serve to elevate their position in Krenn society.

Krenn armaments are nasty. They don't like, have weapons as a discrete thing- they believe the necessity of having a deliberately designed weapon is the mark of an inferior race. So all their 'weapons' are actually 'tools' that they can also use to kill or damage or the like.

Oh, also, nobody knows how they do it, but Krenn have access to some sort of psychometry ability where they can instantly know all the things that someone knows- even at range. You don't know the limits of this power, but there were a couple times during the war when explorer type Krenn contacted starfleet captains on their personal secure ultra top secret emergency frequencies using all the correct code words which were not stored in any computer system.

OOCly, it's a power specific to explorer type Krenn of a certain level, and is almost definitely Psionic. It's not used offensively though- but like if you ever write interacting with a Krenn, aside from them being insufferably arrogant and superior, they'll also know all the things you know. whether they act upon them or not is generally going to be pretty arbitrary

Krenn Technologies

Safetech

Krenn Technology is black boxed. All of it. While the AI's know how to manufacture it, the actual Krenn themselves just know how to use it, not how the individual components work. This translates into an inability to use the technology except for its intended use- a stabilizer is only used to stabilize things, a manipulation device is only used to manipulate things. Use of these devices as an offensive weapon, as became necessary when the major powers of the local territory began fighting back, was new to them. Only the deviancy of the Exploration Caste allowed them to begin finding new uses for their technology, though their AIs did have offense oriented uses programmed into their systems.

Krenn do not have 'weapons', due to a cultural belief that the need for dedicated killing technology makes one inferior- all a Krenn needs to kill is itself (and they consider their power armor to be part of themselves). Though they can and do use their tools to kill, it is usually their AI support systems that make the actual commands and processes.

Manipulation Device

A Manipulation Device is effectively a tractor beam, but where a tractor beam is like, manipulating shit with a body part- like your back, or your thigh (ie: it can push or pull, but not with extreme finesse, and manipulation is flat out), a manipulation device is capable of superfine manipulation from a macro to micro scale. Used offensively, a manipulation device can pluck the nucleie out of your cells, all of them, simultaneously, causing all your crew to basically dissolve into plasm.

Fortunately, they are blocked by shields, and as a graviton based technology, tractor beams can serve as an impromptu 'fist' against them. Repulsor screens can similarly guard against them.

You have on record, from old starfleet briefings, that a manipulation device can only target one discrete target at once- and while fast, it would need to individually target each crew memember, for instance, in a ship. It can't just 'do them all at the same time' (in game terms, once per round, it can kill a hundred people, assuming your shields are down and your hull isn't polarized/armored)

Of course that's assuming they use their standard method of turning all crew into plasm- you... you've got a few reports that indicated that exporer type Krenn were particularly adept at finding new ways to use their technology, and there's no reason why a manipulation device couldn't say, destabilize your dilithium matrix rather than kill all your crew.

Stabilizer

A Stabilizer... stabilizes things. It appears to be an advanced application of forcefield technology similar to stasis fields that slow all electrochemical/energetic motion within the area of effect, but rather than just passively altering everything, a stabilizer actually detects and discerns the motive components of any reaction, extrapolates the 'ideal' reaction versus the current reaction, and manipulates the target to achieve the desired result.

Stabilizers were most notably used to halt the extent warp core breach of the USS Friday during an abortive attempt at diplomatic negotiation with the Krenn, after its Betazoid captain came into psionic contact with the Krenn and realized just how dangerous they were. Despite the warp core detonating while a Krenn contingent was onboard, their handheld stabilizers were able to contain and somehow reverse the explosion.

Stabilizers can also *destabilize* reactions, though this use is considerably rarer.
