The United States of America (USA), commonly known as the United States (U.S.) or America, is a federal republic composed of 44 states, a federal district, three major self-governing territories, and various possessions. The United States of the 25th century is spread across several major worlds, Earth, Acheron, Tirol, Olympia and several large space complexes. It's capital is Columbia City on Tirol and it's largest city by population is New San Angeles.

The United States has recently undergone signification expansion, in what some are calling the Reunification Era, absorbing several successor states, most notably the majority of states in North America and mostly recently the Jefferson Republic. It does however has a continuity of government stretching back to the First United States Congress in 1789.

The United States is a leading major power, it retains one of the most powerful, perhaps the most powerful military in the human sphere. It is founding member of the new United Nations and has remained involved in grid politics, reversing the isolationist policies of President Samuel Winters. It has close diplomatic relations with Astro Isabella, Japan, Fedcom, Osea and several members of the NDCA.
