History: The Tau Ceti Directorate was formed from the refugees fleeing from Old Earth in the late 21st century after the second interplanetary war saw the radioactive ruin of most of Earth, the destruction of Mars and Luna colonies, with the survivors of the People's Republic Blok remaining in control of many of what was left of the inhabitable areas. The remaining Western allied rocketships and atomic powered dreadnoughts fled escorting rickety evacuation ships and converted civilian liners on the 50 year journey to that star which was discovered in mid century to have a planet that was theoretical in the life zone, their enemies back in the solar system thought them doomed and left them alone to rebuild the Solar System and mother Earth into a worker's paradise. Only a third of the fleet survived to make it landfall at Tau Ceti Prime, which was renamed Columbia. However, while it officially took on the form of a democracy, the military maintained control with its Directorate Security Council which was the true master of the nation.

The Androvich Drive created by the Einstein of the 23rd century saw the recontact between the Solar Soviet and Tau Ceti Directorate. Plans for the FTL drive soon passed hands and local space from 2235-2279 was period of mass expansion of colonies (though often thinly settled) and military buildup between the branches of humanity. It was also at this time, the Psionic Institute of New Denver published its ground breaking results of the Peterhoff Thesis which lead to the creation of the Psi-Corp during this Second Cold War. The Cold War became hot in 2280 and lasted for twelve years, as the Androvich Drives were still faster then light but slow. The conflict was long and brutal, interplanetary war era plasma guns and laser riffles, had given away to atomic disintgrators, x-ray cannons, and psi-bombs. The war however did end, when the Solar Soviet's communication code was cracked and the fleet ambushed in the Battle of the Depths, defeated in detail as its constituent parts were warping in a random point of the interstellar depths.

By 2294 the Solar Soviet was officially annexed into the Tau Ceti Directorate along with all its colonies, for the next hundred years was a golden age of exploration and colonization, though the Tau Ceti Directorate moved from a faux democracy real military survival council to a more technocratic style of government with the implementation of the Xander Reforms of 2352, and the addition to the Directorate Security Council of voting seats taken from elected government officials, highest academics and industrialists and even one artists. While it was a golden age it still had its problems, die hard rebels against the system, from all ranges of the political spectrum tried to form their own small colonies and leave the Directorate, only to get squash and the Psi-Corps became PSICOM which became the half secret police against terrorist, though in 2408 their mission was included with the arrival of a new foe.
The Gould-Planket drive utilizing control of gravity, soon saw the rampant in crease of the increasing strained Androvich Drive, and thus faster ships (though resulting in a new naval architecture of ships for those, moving away from the atomic rocketship of true and tried designs to larger more saucer shaped ships) which lead explorers to the Pleiadian Star Cluster. There they found a race of nordic looking aliens who mentality where very different human style. At first contact was peaceful, but the then in 2405 the First Frontier War occurred, as Pleiadian interests must of felt threatened by the rising star of humanity and soon the interstellar voids were filled with warships fighting each other. The Pleiadians also began to send in infiltrators and saboteurs into Directorate space creating cults and cells and with their high ability at psi powers were able to infiltrated up to the Security Council Level before getting discovered in 2408, which lead to increase powers of PSICOM. The First Frontier War ended soon after in 09, and then the conflict picked up again in the second war a decade later, which was Tau Ceti Directorate was fighting when all of sudden it found itself in Nexus.

Population: Rank 3 (5; +1 infrastructure, +1 space fleet)
The Directorate controls all of local space around Earth.

Transhumanism: Rank 0 (0)
The Directorate's research into human enchantment lead it to field of psionics.

Infrastructure: Rank 5 (4 + 1)
The Directorate has a long storied history of human conquest of space.

Growth Potential: Rank 3 (3)
Many of the worlds of Directorate still have undiscovered wealth.

Military Support: Rank 5 (5)
The Directorate's history was shaped by war, and the constant threats it faced made sure it was able to defend itself and take the fight to the enemy.

Space Fleet: Rank 6 (5 + 1)
Be it the sleek atomic rocketships or the menacing and huge saucer shaped mother-ships of the Directorate Space Force, the Directorate is more then capable of filling the skies with their ships.

Diplomacy: Rank 1 (2)
The Directorate for the most part only had to have in its history diplomats who could get ceasefires or surrender agreements out of its people.

Espionage: Rank 2 (2)
The Directorate has a effective if run of the mill black ops department, if made more potent by the prevalence of its PSICOM agents.

General Advancement: Rank 0 (0)
Compared to most powers alot of methods and technologies that Directorate use looks old or dated.

Unique Technologies: Rank 3 (5)
However, despite having computers that up the size of entire rooms to rival a power of a modern PC, the technology track that Directorate went down on is impressive in its own right even if looks like it came out of a bad 50's serial.

Emergent Technologies: Rank 0 (0)
Nope!

Magic: Rank 3 (4)
PSICOM agents have control of this situation citizen. Move along.
