House Metherly

During the early Imperial Era, the founders of House Metherly were aristocratic navigators who charted unplotted starways and new worlds within the vast gulf of the Zedan Circuit. As reward for their efforts they were granted the sole right to charter trading guilds and monopolies in the northeastern empire. Their descendants, today based on the garden world of Metherlence, play a delicate game with the Crown every fiscal year. No house is more punctual with their royal taxes than the Metherlies – or has the Crown as deeply indebted to it.

In general the house has extensive connections with the Hansa. Being as their only real rivals in wealth are technical guilds related to military production, the Metherlies would really rather everyone stop fighting so they can trade instead.
