Aberrant 2.1 Power Errata

Attacks

Claws

Claws deals (2 * Power Rating) additional damage. Aggravated Claws deal (Quantum + 2 * Power Rating) damage.

Disintegrate

Disintegrate deals (Quantum + Stamina + [Power Rating * 3]) aggravated damage dice with [Quantum + Disintegrate + Mega-Stamina] in damage adds.

Immolate

Immolate deals (Quantum + [Power Rating * 3]) lethal or ([Quantum * 2] + [Power Rating * 3]) bashing damage with a damage add of [Quantum * 2].

Quantum Bolt

Quantum Bolt deals (Quantum + [Power Rating * 6]) bashing or (Quantum + [Power Rating * 5]) lethal damage with a damage add of [Quantum * 2 + Power Rating].

Quantum Inferno

Quantum Inferno deals ([Quantum * 2] + [Power Rating * 5]) aggravated damage with a damage add of [(Quantum * 2) + Power Rating], along with ([Quantum * 4] + [Power Rating * 10]) lethal damage with a damage add of ([Quantum * 4] + [Power Rating * 2]).

Stun Attack

Stun Attack deals (Quantum + [Stun Attack * 4]) dice of stun damage with [Quantum * 2] automatic levels. Stun attack ignores all non-natural soak.

Defenses

Armor

Armor gives +5B/4L soak for every odd dot (1, 3, 5, 7, 9) and +4B/5L soak for every even dot (2, 4, 6, 8, 10). This means that every 2 dots of armor gives 9B/9L soak total.

Forcefield

Forcefields have (Quantum + Stamina + [Forcefield * 4]) health levels. Hardened forcefields have (Quantum + Power Rating) bashing/lethal/aggravated soak.

Invulnerability

Invulnerability gives 6 levels of post-soak damage reduction or 6 bonus successes to resist a specific type of attack. The "Broad Spectrum" Extra no longer exists, instead a new extra, "Multithreat", allows a character to specify an additional type of attack Invulnerability works against. (e.g. a character with Invulnerability 3 [Bullets] could buy Multithreat once to extend that to edged weapons such as swords, again to protect against blunt trauma, and yet again to protect against lasers.)

Quantum Forgery

Every success on the Quantum Forgery roll reduces any post-soak damage by 2 levels, and adds +2 to the difficulty of using any other powers against the nova.

Utility

Sizemorph

Each dot of Sizemorph (Grow) adds 2 to the character's Size, while each dot of Sizemorph (Shrink) subtracts 2. Sizemorph (Grow) adds +2 to strength per dot, Sizemorph (Shrink) subtracts 1 from Strength per dot. Each dot of Sizemorph (Grow) multiplies movement speeds by 50% and doubles the maximum weight a character can lift, while each dot of Sizemorph (Shrink) halves movement speeds and lifting ability.

Suite Powers

Blast/Lethal Blast

This technique deals deals (Quantum + [Power Rating * 5]) bashing or (Quantum + [Power Rating * 4]) lethal damage with a damage add of [Quantum * 2 + Power Rating]. This applies to all variants (Spatial Shockwave, Gravitic Blast, etc).

Shield

Soak shields give +3B/3L soak per dot.

Ablative shields give (Quantum + Stamina + [Forcefield * 3]) external health levels.

Offensive shields deal (Quantum + [Power Rating * 2]) lethal or (Quantum + [Power Rating * 3]) bashing with a damage add of [Quantum] to anyone who touches them.

Suggested Stuff

Biomanipulation

  • Abiogenesis [Min Quantum 6]: Abiogenesis has a pool of (Biomanipulation + Stamina) and a Range of [Biomanipulation + Quantum x2] meters and allows a Nova to seed barren environments with simple forms of life. Combined with other powers, a Nova can colonize a dead world. Abiogenesis uses have a Duration of Maintenance, during which the Nova continuously saturates their environment with single celled life which can begin colonizing the local ecosystem.
No roll is required to fill a relatively placid Earthlike environment, unless the Nova is attempting to colonize a region with little or no organic (or those of any form of life) compounds. Barren worlds such as Mars add +3 and extremely hostile worlds like Venus might add +5 or +6 difficulty. A Nova needs the Affects Microbes extra to make use of the raw materials created through Abiogenesis with powers such as Growth and Form Manipulation. Growth rolls however, will enrich soil and air rather than deplete it.
Uses of Form Manipulation likewise incur difficulty penalties even with the Affects Microbes extra due to the unfamiliarity most Novas have with single-celled life and virion (beyond a purely academic understanding), averaging +5 or +6 difficulty. Literally converting a brackish pool filled with amoeba into a single salamander is a tremendously superhuman feat that sidesteps hundreds of millions of years of evolution.

Elemental Control

  • Gauntlet: Gauntlet functions similarly to the Claws power, converting the Nova's hand to hand attacks to Lethal damage and dealing (Elemental Control) extra lethal dice in melee and hand-to-hand combat.
Like Claws, Gauntlet functions differently with the Aggravated Extra, instead adding (Elemental Control + Quantum) Aggravated dice. It also receives the same Mastery effect, gaining a damage add in addition to extra dice.
