Talk:Vancouver Plans/Brainstorming

Preamble
- We think the Technocracy is attempting to bring advanced robotics (mecha) into consensus.
- Because
robots are awesomethis can't be stopped if they want to push it, we should take advantage and overstretch the incoming mecha paradigm to encompass more esoteric forms (super robots and associated tropes). - This will enable the traditions to field heavier equipment like etherite robots and appropriately-disguised hermetic golems, and generally help restore a mystic rather than rationalist consensus.
- This is far too large for any one chantry to achieve, but we can make a start and involve interested parties.
Principles
- A robot is not merely a tool or a weapon. It is an incarnate hero or deity.
- Robots are individuals and persons, even if they wear a uniform. They are characters in their own right.
- The power of advanced robotics is limitless! Mecha are beyond previous technology because they can express the human soul and genius. All kinds of strange effects are possible.
- The sophistication, complexity and esoteric principles of mecha defy conventional economies of scale. Often a single robot or small number of expensive bespoke machines are the equal of any number of mass-produced devices.
Methodology
- Conscious and subconscious associations are an important part of what people will believe. Our work is made easier by the simple fact that it's mecha, which are already associated with a number of 'mythic tropes' (magical robots, anger powerups, etc) and are humanoid, which means people will automatically anthropomorphise and personify them.
- Media is clearly of paramount importance.
- What's going to appeal more to kids and teens? Dry technical data or dramatic stories and exaggerated accomplishments? There's room for a youth magazine/show about this and related topics once things get going that can establish proper framing and myths (truths) in the public.
- Obviously the appearance of real robots will lead to a robot show boom. It's up to us to weight it towards the super and heroic and away from grit.
Tradition Involvement
- Akashics won't care until someone invents Trace Systems.
- Choristers won't care until someone invents Xenogears.
- Dreamspeakers will throw rocks at us.
- Ecstatics won't care until someone invents Aquarion.
- Euthanatos will be a hard sell but may be worth the attempt given the incredible utility of Entropy for this. Westin has a major contact.
- Show them Bokurano.
- Hermetics probably don't care, except maybe for Thig. We have strong contacts with them.
- Sons of Ether are the obvious. Show me a son opposed to super robots and I will show you a techno agent. Derek is presumably intending to link up with them.
- Verbena are busy with the New Age project.
- Virtual Adepts are full of nerds, so probably have lots of otakus and weeaboos. We have a contact in Ichi.
Actions
- Confirm that this is actually what the technocracy is planning, before we waste our time.
- Also check what Ikeda is up to so we can evade/counteract his trap.
- Ensure the Hokkaido exercise is a heroic success, but a success at least partly on our terms with a heroic Maverick and Tan-chan.
- Leak footage onto YouTube.
- Internal
- Proteus (or Westin) can mundane hax it so that it appears a lot.
- Westin can ask Hermes to take the message to the people, and Entropy 2 it to appear on recommended videos more than it should.
- Virtual Adepts
Does Proteus have significant contacts with VAs who might be able to help with this situation?No.- We could call up Ichi, he should know some people in the Jap VA scene.
- The Euthanatos-Not as unusual as it sounds: The Indian Euthanatos (the Chakravanti) have the Lhaksmist (Locksmiths) who have significant Digital Web presence (implying tech savviness) and a reputation for both hacking and karmic hilarity (and making the Technocracy fall on its own sword by spreading viral videos is definitely both). Westin has the Prestigious Mentor merit which may allow him to at least ask around.
- However Westin's a member of the Greek, not Indian traditions, and his mentor's reputation may not extend far enough to allow him to ask for any favors. Even if it does, it's almost certain all it'll be is a foot in the door rather than actual help.
- They might also prefer blowing this up in the Technocracy's face instead of letting it go.
- The Sons of Ether
- Giant robots. Fuck yeah.
- (But we don't know any mainstream Etherites!)
