Sotei Gakuen
Sotei Academy occupies a large campus in Eastern Tokyo. While not an obligatory boarding school, living on campus in the excellent dorms is encouraged.

- Sumeragi Mana, 3Y. President of the Student Council. A genius already preparing her doctoral thesis on nuclear fusion. Forceful and unflappable, she is Sotei's first female student president, and regularly 'jokes' about becoming Japan's first female prime minister. Her becoming President was unexpected, but her tenure has seen multiple corrupt or abusive staff and students dealt with, raising her popularity. To those in the know, she is the daughter of a powerful akashic clan. Noted for her distinctive white hair.
- Watanabe Ichiro, 3Y. Vice-President of the Student Council. Son of a prominent Diet member. Was expected to become student council president, but unexpectedly withdrew in favour of Sumeragi. His hatred for her is a poorly-kept secret under his fawning public obedience. Considered handsome and charming in other contexts.
- Gekkoutsuka Rin, 3Y, Queen of the East. 'Cool beauty'. A model student, but somewhat cold and high-strung. Sometimes takes leave to deal with family matters. Secretary on the Student Council, member of the calligraphy club. To those in the know, she is the daughter of a powerful onmyoji line.
- Charlotte Seidel, 3Y, Queen of the West. 'Westernised'. From a wealthy German industrial family. Gregarious but obnoxious foreigner, otaku for visual culture and WW2 history, doesn't like 'no' for an answer. Despite these attributes, in the orbit of the student council. Member of the History Club.
- Kuroda Haruhi, 2Y, Queen of the North. 'Cute'. Scion of the somewhat nouveau, very riche Kuroda banking family. A negative personality, particularly toward those who give her aristocratic grief. More than once prominent enemies have found their family businesses in difficulty. Treasurer on the Student Council.
- Akazaki Tsuno, 2Y, Queen of the South. 'Dangerous'. Claims to be descended from foreign royalty, but her actual family situation is obscure. A sadist and bully, with a sloppy attitude to discipline and a prohibited red hair streak, but in favour with the student council so mostly avoids consequences. Ace of the basketball team. 'Boku'.
