Psionics

Overview

During the 20th and 21st Century, meta-studies of the psychic phenomena had revealed that while most of it was unverifiable or unrepeatable in laboratory conditions, there was noise in the data very feint. It would takes centuries of creating a theory of mind and quantum mechanics along with genetic enhancements of the overall population that saw the first verifiable experiment with psi under the direction of the Pleiadian Institute located in Side Six of Earth. During the lost war against the Transcendent Artificial Intelligence that took over Earth, the Institute, psions from the Institute were at the forefront of the conflict as their abilities were unable to be reproduce by the machine intelligence despite massive amount of resources poured into the project by the TAI (at times estimated to be about twenty-five percent of Earth's GDP). When the war was lost and Institute along with the others drive out by the Great Scattering, dedicated studies into psionics faltered as the Republic had at first neither the resources, then then as Star Patrol took over, neither the inclination to have general better understanding of the phenomena preferring to keep its own experiments tightly under control of the elite that ran the Republic. The Pleiadian Empire's mastery of the power of the mind had turned into privates and arcane and very esoteric and some say religious understanding, and the same can be said for the Church.

Divers

Divers are the name given to the psionic adepts. They generally focus a few areas of the powers of the mind. Many of them are used for civilian purposes, but obviously they can be used for military operations. When assigned to a unit they give the unit bonus's and saves against destruction. Diver Powers are on the Ground Unit Scale, Master Divers can buy a power to allow them work on a ship and fleet level. In terms of physical combat they are generally equivalent to a headliner due to their powers.

Diver Powers

  • Mind Control: Peacekeeping / Intelligence Gathering / Charm
  • Divination: Bonus to tactics / dodge
  • Materialization: Bonus to defense
  • Psienergetics: Bonus to offensive
  • Teleportation: Bonus to Mobility
  • Healing: Bonus to durability

Master Diver Powers

  • Summoning: Summon a horrific creatures from another world.
  • Synchronization: Bonus applies to a formation of 5 units
  • Necromancy: Brings back a dead unit to shambling life
  • Astralmancy: Allows powers to work in space and on ships
  • Gate: Allows travel across interstellar distance instantaneously (uses 5 power points/ 10 power points to allow for a gate to allow an army or a fleet through*
