NGDF Ship Designs

Djinn class BB, Mk. IV

  • 7 Frame Expansion
  • 3 Power Expansion
  • 2 Fusion Drives
  • 1 Jump Drive
  • 1 Electronics
  • 1 Habitation
  • 1 Armor
  • 1 Shield
  • 1 Autorail Array
  • 1 Anti-Air Launcher
  • 1 Heavy Railcannon Turret
  • 1 Heavy Anti-Ship Missile
  • 1 Leap Missile

The Djinn class Battleship is the first class of warship developed for the NGDF by Thyssen-Krupp and has been in active use for a very long time. The contractor's design team basically took the EU's Drake class and stripped it down to the hull, before rebuilding it to meet the NGDF's requested specifications. The Mk. IV is the newest version of this class having been rolled out shortly before Operation: Dawnstar, although most of the ships that took part in that campaign were Mk. IIIs.

Thunderbird class CA

  • 7 Frame Expansion
  • 3 Power Expansion
  • 2 Fusion Drives
  • 1 Jump Drive
  • 1 Electronics
  • 1 Habitation
  • 1 Armor
  • 2 Shield
  • 1 Autorail Array
  • 1 Anti-Air Launcher
  • 1 Heavy Rail Turret
  • 1 Anti-ship Missile

The Thunderbird class is the general backbone of the fleet, and was developed shortly before New Merica and the related conflicts. They are well rounded, general combatants but do not excel in any one field.

Rakasha Missile Cruiser

  • 7 Frame Expansion
  • 3 Power Expansion
  • 2 Fusion Drives
  • 1 Jump Drive
  • 1 Electronics
  • 1 Habitation
  • 1 Armor
  • 1 Shield
  • 1 Autorail Array
  • 1 Anti-Air Launcher
  • 2 Anti-Ship Missile
  • 1 Heavy Anti-Ship Missile

A variant of the standard Thunderbird class cruiser designed for long range missile strikes and battles but lacking in close in weaponry.

Selkie class Escort

  • 7 Frame Expansion
  • 3 Power Expansion
  • 2 Fusion Drives
  • 1 Jump Drive
  • 1 Electronics
  • 1 Habitation
  • 1 Armor
  • 1 Shield
  • 2 Autorail Array
  • 2 Anti-Air Launcher
  • 1 Rail Turret

The Selkie class is one of the newest additions to the NGDF order of battle, replacing the older Phoenix class escorts that have since been decommissioned. They were primarily developed to defend the larger warships from ZOCU combat frames and missiles, and have extensive PD and AA armaments. However, their anti-ship weaponry is somewhat underwhelming as much of what was planned was cut out to make room for the increased AA network.

Naiad class Patrol Frigate

  • 7 Frame Expansion
  • 3 Power Expansion
  • 2 Fusion Drives
  • 1 Jump Drive
  • 1 Electronics
  • 1 Habitation
  • 1 Armor
  • 1 Shield
  • 1 Autorail Array
  • 1 Rail Turret
  • 1 Anti-Air Launcher
  • 1 Anti-Ship Missile

The Naiad class is an older but still solid warship used as pickets, scouts, and enforcement craft.

Horae class System Defense Destroyer

  • 7 Frame Expansion
  • 3 Power Expansion
  • 2 Fusion Drives
  • 2 Electronics
  • 2 Armor
  • 2 Shield
  • 1 Autorail Array
  • 1 Rail Turret
  • 1 Anti-Ship Missile

The Horae class is a non-jump capable destroyer, a sister design to the old Phoneix class, designed for system defense work within the New Granada System itself. The space freed up by removing the jump engine has been used for heavier shields and armor, resulting in a powerful and hard to kill warship. Current NGDF system defense doctrine relies on a combination of squadrons of Horae class warships, the ships assigned to the DSF base, and fixed defenses - backed by whatever regular naval forces are in system.

Jotun class Escort (light) Carrier, Mk. II

The Jotun class is a venerable design that was hurriedly refit after Operation Dawnstar. Originally built to transport fighter wings they had been modified to carry the Manticore class combat frames after their development. However, their age and the relatively simple modifications that had been carried out led to significant losses and the NGDF's carrier arm during the battle of Haraway. The modern design has been rebuilt from the keel up as a purpose built combat frame carrier but has not yet been tested in true battle.

Alfar Combat Frame

The NGDF was a rather early adopter of combat frames, turning to Thyseen-Krupp to develop the Manticore Combat Frames shortly after the PACT rolled out their first designs. The Manticore class was an adequate first generation design but it was outmatched by Harawayan and other ZOCU mobile suits, suffering from a kill ratio that fluctuated between 2-1 and 3-1. The Alfar class of mobile suits is New Granada's second generation design, which takes into the lessons learned from the conflicts and captured enemy suits to develop a much more capable machine.
