A number of novas cite idols of their youth shaping their powers. Did you have an idol?

Ha, well, this is a bit embarrassing. A lot of novas tend to claim idols of real people, like Ghandi or Martin Luther King, Jr or even a monster like Stalin, or they claim to have idolized figures from mythology, your Persei and your Zeuses and your Aphrodites. Frankly, I think most of them are lying--the comic book fans are probably more honest to their inspirations. Me? I was obsessed with Lara Croft--you know, from the Tomb Raider games? The series is actually older than I am, but I first fell in love her in 2013--fell in love with the series--with the reboot. You can actually see a bit of the influence of video games in my powers, like the way I regenerate in seconds as long as I'm not being shot at. I even dual-wield pistols because of Lara.

You could have had a brilliant career as a mathematician or a noeticist, which would still be able to do plenty of good in the world. Why didn't you take that offer?

I was a lab tech at the Prometheus Institute before my eruption. I'm afraid that I can't go into too much detail due to the ongoing investigation, but let me just say that I never wish to repeat that experience. They say that extreme stress can trigger an eruption, and if I didn't know better, I'd swear they worked us to the bone to just to try and induce eruptions.

What triggered your eruption and why?

I was on the receiving end of some rubber-hose cryptanalysis at the hands of the Mafiya. The last thing I remember before erupting was taking a wrench to the side of my skull hard enough to knock me over.

I remember hearing about that in the news. "Nova Drug Ring Smashed by Victim". You escaped and slaughtered them all, saving a number of women who were about to be forced into the sex trade in the process. What was running through your mind during that trying experience?
