Explorator Yorke

Born on the greatest, and most ancient of forgeworlds, Mars. Inessa from the moment of her birth was preordained to join the Adeptus Mechanicus. As with all children born amongst the thriving, bustling industries of forgeworlds, the Mechanicus tests them, determining their path in life. From lowly dredge, to Servant of the Omnissiah. It was Inessa's path to join the ranks of the faithful, to become one with the Machine God in pursuit of 'perfection' and release from mortal flesh.

Her parents loved their child dearly and while having been devoted servants of the Mechanicus they simply could not stand to see their child turned into one of them. So they fled. Hopping an outbound transport called the 'Penitent's Path' toward one of the outer Segmentum, a journey that would take years on the slow ponderous transport. Enraged by this, the Mechanicus sent a squad of Skitarii to retrieve the girl and punish the parents for their blasphemous denial of Inessa's pre-determined path. The Skitarii eventually found the parents only after the vessel had entered the Immaterium to begin its voyage. Rendering the Machine God's punishment on the parents, they were executed and Inessa taken into the cold metallic embrace of the Omnissiah. From there they cared for the child as best as could be had from the Tech-Warriors. Teaching her the ways of the Mechanicus she grew into the role just as they'd predicted several years ago. All seemed well as the first leg of the journey was at an end and the last had just gotten underway.

The Skitarii and now seven-year old Inessa began the long trek back to ancient Mars to complete her initiation into the Machine Cult. Things however did not go as intended. Penitent's Path's Gellar Field began to fluctuate while immersed within the dangerous Immaterium, allowing denizens of its chaos-tainted realm to board the vessel. The horrors unleashed aboard the vessel are known only to those that survived. Forever scarred from the encounter. Inessa herself found that only one of her guardians had survived the encounter as they fought to protect their charge as well as themselves. Hyspasist Atellus. It was he that continued to teach her the ways of the Mechanicus after they both oversaw the rights in which are observed for the fallen Tech-Guard. Scarred by her experience, but steeled by it as well, Inessa under went initiation upon return to Holy Mars. While it had been determined that she join the Mechanicus her path had not been set beyond this. Instead of taking to the more narrow, and close-minded view of the 'Earth-Bound' Priests, she wished to traverse the void again and discover what secrets from Man's past it jealously hoarded.

(Note: Hypasist is a type of Skitarii, typically an infantryman.)
