The Paths
Pre-Modern Era
PRH-1) Continental Origins
- Afriqa (Go to PRH-2)
- The origin of humanity, a resource-rich but climate-unstable continent with a vigorous and challenging ecosystem.
- Elysia (Go to PRH-3)
- Elysia's mild climate fostered the rise of the Cellid tribes and many ancient kingdoms that followed.
- Asiya (Go to PRH-4)
- The largest continent of the 'Old World', Asiya's landmass is criss-crossed by glacier-fed rivers and titanic mountain ranges which became natural borders for the world's earliest empires.
- Zeelandia (Go to PRH-5)
- Zeelandia's island chains have been settled by a succession of peoples for millenia, and the locals have seen exchange with both Asiyan cultures and Cascadian indigenous people, often peaceful but sometimes violent.
- Cascadia (Go to PRH-6)
- The so-called 'New World' has been continuously inhabited as long as the rest of the world, and features a robust and diverse ecosystem with great inland plains. Elysian stavroforos from Byzan attempted a series of crusades into North Cascadia but failed to hold onto any gains in the South.
- Thule (Go to PRH-7)
- An ancient, cold continent that was isolated from the rest of the planet for hundreds of years during the Little Ice Age. Its people are insular, hardy and have withstood centuries of invasion with the continent largely returning to self-rule by the end of the World Wars.
PRH-2) Afriqan Nation
- Ancient Kingdom
- A noble people with a history that can be traced to time immemorial.
- A People Without A Kingdom
- History was unkind, denying your people a place in the sun. Your people have always been subjects of one polity or another, often divided between multiple crowns. Only recently has self-rule become a reality.
- Colonial Possession
- Afriqa remained resilient to colonization until technology overcame the climate. This industrial period of settler occupation was the harshest.
- Indomiti
- There was an attempt to tame the land and make your people into loyal subjects of a far-flung empire. An attempt.
PRH-3) Elysian Nation
- Heir to the Celids
- Legion are the Elysian kingdoms that claimed descent from the Ri Bunaid Cach Cinn Arvrigarus, who led the Cellids in their ancient apex. Many of these claims are true.
- Byzan Successor
- When the Celids settled and fragmented, the displaced Pelignes tribe settled the great city of Byzan on the Isthmus of Thrake. Since then, the Byzan Empire became a great power in Elysia prior to modernity, when it dissolved under internal and external pressures.
- Partition and Subjugation
- Elysian colonialism did not strictly begin with the modern period. Some places on the fringes of empire were broken apart and became testing grounds for what would be known as colonialism.
- Cantons Go Brrr
- The mountains, hills and marshland are places where enterprising nobles go to die on commoner pikes. Self-rule has been the norm rather than the exception for hundreds of years.
PRH-4) Asiyan Nation
- Celid Invaders
