Class and Race Features
Source Name Effect
Flurry of Blows Monk 1 Akahi can use a full attack action to make a flurry of blows, which lets her make an additional attack at her highest base attack bonus.
Armor Class Bonus Monk 1 Akahi adds her Charisma modifier to her AC and CMD, including against touch attacks and when flat-footed. She loses this bonus if she wears any armor, wields a shield, is immobilized or helpless, or if she carries a medium or heavy load.
Unarmed Strike Monk 1 Akahi's unarmed strikes deals lethal damage, although she can choose to deal nonlethal damage with no penalty on her attack roll. She can make this choice while grappling as well. In addition, her unarmed strike is treated as both a manufactured weapon and a natural weapon for the purpose of spells and effects that enhance or improve either manufactured weapons or natural weapons.
Change Shape Kitsune Akahi can assume the appearance of a specific single human form of the same sex. She always takes this specific form when she uses this ability. While in human form she cannot use her bite attack, but gains a +10 racial bonus on Disguise checks made to appear human. Changing shape is a standard action. This ability otherwise functions as alter self, except that Akahi does not adjust her ability scores and can remain in this form indefinitely.

History

Akahi was born to an isolated and highly traditional clan of Kitsune. Her blood red fur and intense demeanor unsettled the village shamans, and her birth was heralded as a dangerous omen. The village ostracized her as a result, and eventually she was cast out and abandoned to the wilderness, with the hope that she would die and in dying, take the evil they thought she heralded to the grave. Instead, she was rescued by a monk of the scaled fist, whom she joined as a disciple. Learning strong convictions and dedicating her soul to a code of honor, Akahi eventually set out to find her fortune in the great city.

Akahi utilizes her shapeshifting abilities to evade enemies outside of combat, often presenting each form as a separate individual- 'intense girl who will murder you', 'holy crap some kind of fox monster' and 'oh my god it's adorable' respectively, although a keen opponent will likely discern her true nature. She remains primarily in human form, although her features there are more animalistic than most.

Personality

Akahi is headstrong and intense, and while she follows a personal moral code and respects order, she can also be brutal and remorseless against those she decides are deserving of such. The practitioners of the monastic style she follows emulate the dragons, and often serve as roaming arbiters, ending disputes with dialogue, combat- and in some cases killing as necessary. If Akahi decides that someone is deserving of death, to her the outcome is already forgone. Getting her to that point however, is remarkably difficult. In her own words "Death is the ultimate escape. How will they learn from their punishment if I let them run away from it?"

Typically, she is very direct, and often quite terrifying for a young girl. Her eyes and colouration can be quite unsettling, and her kitsune form seems more predatory than most. She takes great joy in enacting justice, and believes strongly that society should support the less fortunate.

One of her most defining features however, is- to use a phrase coined by her mentor- that she is 'very unwise'. This typically manifests in a curiosity the envy of all the world's cats, and an often flagrant disregard for personal safety. While a commoner confronted with a strange magical object might wrap it up and bury it in the yard until a wizard can be called upon to identify it, Akahi is the one holding it up to the sky and trying to make it work, or pointing its business end at her face and shaking it.

Otherwise, she is loyal and caring to those she lets see past her thorny exterior. She is exceptionally dedicated to the teachings of her mentor- the man known as the Roaring Comet- and will not let anyone get away with insulting him or the teachings, often challenging others to spars or resorting to pranks and sabotage to get the last laugh.

Combat Style

Akahi has been trained as a Monk of the Scaled Fist and taken the first steps towards mastering Dragon Style. As such, she prefers unarmed attacks over those made with monk weapons, although has accrued a number of such weapons to use as needed. As a highly mobile combatant, Akahi uses her unsettling demeanor and predatory appearance to enhance her ability to demoralize enemies.
