Overview

Appearance

Simcha rarely has a consistent appearance, although she tends to be a dark-haired, fair-skinned woman of mixed-Dutch and Thai descent with long hair down the small of her back. It would be a reasonable assumption to guess this is her actual appearance. Style-conscious and rather bold, she tends to shirk the clothes of the present and enjoys appearing sharp and fashionable at least one decade ahead of schedule, using materials afforded to her by her high-level clearance for special equipment.

Background

Simcha always wanted to be an actress, falling in love with the ham morality plays of her mother's daytime soaps by the time she was old enough to parcel through conversations. Her tastes refined to better dramas as she got older, thankfully, and lead to acting lessons and an active role in community stage play. When she turned eight, her grandparents took her to her first play. By the time of her teens, summer vacations to New York and bookings into each Broadway play her family could afford became something of a tradition.

There was no question about what she was going to do after high school.

Getting into a prestigious acting school was just the very first step on her way to moving into an acting career, although the expenses forced her to work all manner of odd jobs just to keep her parents from plunging into debt to keep here there. Unfortunately for Simcha, even if she was ambitious and driven, it was impossible to resist the allure of the parties that wannabe actors in ultra-liberal college environments find their way into.

A bad acid trip too far set something off in her. A sense of profound dissociation and alienation from herself, arousing within her a sudden creativity- manifesting as new characters acted out with an unfathomable depth and reality to them. She was burning up and shooting up in popularity with talent scouts calling her a modern day Robin Williams, not so much acting as possessed.

Which wouldn't be incorrect. The acid trip had awakened enlightened voices within her head, but the voices wouldn't stop. She had no control over who they were or what they told her. Alcohol and extremes of sensation dulled and quieted them, so she turned to self-harm to control her loosening grip on her own sanity.

After an incident where she realized she could no longer hide the scars, she voluntarily checked herself into a psychiatric center, where the NWO discovered her. Some of the Convention's finest worked to help her control the voices with discipline, meditation and willpower, guiding a very grateful young mind to becoming one of their best agents. It was eventually discovered that the LSD she was fed was a batch cooked up by some Ecstatics trying to coax her into awakening, but a botched dose and her own flexible sense of self caused the drug to work the other way entirely.

The irony is not lost on Simcha herself, who loves acting and enjoys the particularly morality plays that she slips into every day at work- as one of the New World Order's deadliest poisoners and masters of disguise.

The best part: sometimes they even pull her in for some voice work for some new AR suite or a part in the Media Watchers' latest production.

Paradigm

Simcha is a consummate professional, equal parts method actor and lethal hitman. What she is not is a product of highly advanced superscience, a deadly combat cyborg or Progenitor-bred homo sapiens novus that excels because she was made that way. Her talents are a consequence of training, discipline, and possessing the right tools for the job. That absolutely anything is possible for ordinary humans to possessing the right tools and knowledge is not only one of the fundamentals of Simcha's view of the world, but also one of the absolutes of human nature that the Technocracy has done well by promoting and reinforcing.

She is not opposed to altering her own body and has no particular criticism of those agents who help the Union by becoming cybernetically or genetically enhanced. It is simply a fact that some of the noblest traits of the human being come about when she fights the encroaching darkness with nothing more than a uniform and the particular tools of their trade.

Paradigmaticaly she tends to work straightforwardly and shirks overly complicated superscience, preferring handguns to rayguns and hypnotherapy to advanced fractals. She is cautiously optimistic towards nanomedicine, which she makes use of in some aspects of her Life proceedures. She accepts psychic phenomenon as a reasonable grey area for the developmental potential of human beings and has a soft spot for their theatricality. Despite a certain pretense to practicality, Simcha also loves spycraft and props, from laser watches to tearaway rubber masks (although her own experiments into such are much more like full body suits made of experimental fleshy prosthesis material).
