Dreadnaught Gustav XI

The spatial trap fired and the ether ahead of the Gustav XI was filled with two vast metallic bulks. For a moment Adolfus goggled at the wall of metal in front of him, not one but two world ship sized units filled his vision. His mouth moved without his head really thinking "All ships! Execute immediate break away! Full power to the interceptor systems!"

The battlemoons fired, great lances of energy lashing out at his formation, and Adolfus saw one of his battleships, the [i]Roland[/i] take a hit and begin to tumble, fire rippling along its length. The ship's mana syphon lost containment and the entire vessel tore apart in a spray of debris.

The Gustav XI's main battery opened fire, ripping space between the two fleets apart, blocking atomic beams as best it could. Meantime the rest of the formation was teleporting away, ships vanishing one after the other.

"Should I call in the quick reaction force sir?" This flag captain asked.

"No! They'd be wasted against those things!" Adolfus glared. "Just get us out of here as soon as the rest of the fleet is gone!"

The last ship vanished and the Gustav XI teleported after them, the space where it had been ravaged a moment later by the titanic fury of a dozens of atomic beams.

Adolfus sat back, wiping his brow, then frowned. "If those things are here, then the lighter ships must be behind... signal the rest of the wolf pack." He scratched his beard. "Arrange a meeting with that Drow maid and her barbarian lackey... I think we need to take a shot at this from another angle."

"Certainly can't take it from the front anymore." His flag captain muttered. Adolfus let the comment slide as he considered what to do.
