Character

Born many years after the end of the Aberrant War, Claire Burns grew up on the Chinese colony of Khantze Lu Ge. Although something of a delinquent child, she remained on good terms with her rather disapproving family and managed to get through her teens without too much trouble. Still, she wasn't headed in the best of directions and decided to leave her home district before she fell into the wrong crowd for good.

Deciding to contribute to her community and escape a life of petty crime, she joined the local volunteer militia as a VARG pilot, where she received a cozy posting patroling colony borders. But no less than a few weeks after finishing her training, the Aberrants led by the Colony attacked and turned her beloved home into a war-torn hellhole. Along with many of the local military who weren't immediately killed, she was eventually captured after months of frantic fighting. Having seen most of her family and friends die in the ensuing chaos, she had relegated herself to a life of pain and torment as she was twisted into one of the Colony's Sub-Aberrant monstrosities.

Yet, shortly before she was to be carted off the vats, the Upeo arrived and staged an attack on the facility, liberating her and all of the other prisoners. Unfortunately, she was severely injured during the rescue and mistakenly left for dead by her saviors. What was worse, was that she Erupted shortly after the battle and was left to stumble around the warzones, hated by UN forces and hunted by the Colony's forces. It was only by sheer luck that she managed to avoid death or capture, and was eventually rescued several weeks later by the Eden Novas.

She spent much of her time since then honing her powers and trying to compensate for a body that hadn't recovered from the wounds it had received before Eruption. When Quantum-active cybernetics arrived at the Nova colony, Claire, then known as Char, requested to be the first to receive treatment.
