Savage
Name: Savage (originally 54-VGE Autonomous Wildlife Monitoring & Research Unit)
Species: AI
Height: 6’ 3’’
Weight: 78 Kg
Manageable Weight: 41Kg
Appearance:
Savage’s outer appearance is mostly fairly simple – the exterior body is constructed of several different dark grey and black colored plates broken occasionally by overlapping plates occurring near the joints for maximum protection. A golden ‘v’ shape is present on the chest, but has faded away a fair bit. Much of the original color has gone though, leaving a rusty brown in its wake after years of field use. Patchwork welding jobs also mar the plates in many areas while some burn marks are present especially around the arms and shoulders.
The frame approximates in proportion and size a human body; a notable exception however is the odd shape of the head. The ‘head’ is actually covered by a long, drawn out extension of the back of the neck, which curves up and over and joins at a near-right angle with the top of the forehead.
The forehead is a curved mask-like structure which juts down and in front of the face at a near-vertical angle to around 2 cm or so beyond where the “chin” would be. The face – if it exists –is only visible in its sides, which are smooth and unbroken, while the head itself is colored much as the same as the rest of the frame, with no visible external sensors.
This entire physical structure though is almost always wrapped underneath a set of simple saffron robes, the top part of which also serves to form a ‘hood’ of sorts to cover his face and head.
Personality:
Calm, collected and wholly rational at all level of beings – yet manages to retain a humble attitude through it all. Generally an optimist, but can turn to be a bit cynical at times of great stress or hardship.
Bio:
40 years ago Vidal Corporation designed a special series of robots to study the dangerous wildlife in the Freezones. These robots were special; built to be able to survive in the wild all on their own for years on end. Their official designations were the 54-VGE series of production models. But to everyone – including themselves – they were known as Savages.
Six were built and were released into the Freezone. They worked…at first. The Savages went about collecting their data; working together to survive the harshness of the wild. But the wild is a dangerous place and as powerful as the Savages were they could not last forever. They fell one by one, till only a single Savage remained.
This last almost fell and for all intents and purposes had fallen. But just when all seemed dark, a light appeared on the horizon. The last Savage was saved by a wandering stranger; a Bhuddist monk that had somehow become immortal through the ages. The monk brought him to the husk of a giant city.
It was here that the monk brought the Savage back to life and light; freeing it from the bonds of its overseers. He gave the Savage identity, morality, consciousness and taught him in the ways of humanity, life and karma. Savage learnt under his tutelage for countless years, reading through the great libraries that were left behind in the husk.
There was great peace for many years. Savage grew to become a bhuddist, much like his teacher. Things changed though. Eventually, the monk freed himself of the bonds that tied him to the world; ascending and leaving behind Savage. Truly alone for the first time in his life, Savage simply picked up the Monk’s robes and returned to the wilderness older, wiser and with renewed purpose: that to find his own inner peace and one day ascend much like his teacher.
But to get there he must first survive not only the wild but the cities themselves, strange droplets on Indra’s net as they are. These are his adventures; his journeys, his stories.
