We are an expanding multidisciplinary research group focused on Applied Pattern Mechanics and both macro and micro scale Molecular Bioengineering

Research Staff

We are actively recruiting talented and dedicated scientists for training and assistance. We offer full room and board, as well as access to top-tier instrumentation. Confidential agreement required.

Principal Investigators

Dr. Eli T. Lorentz
Holds a Sci. D in Biochemistry from Gernsbach University - Victoria Station. Current research interests include materials science, field medicine, and advanced weapon technologies,
Dr. Natalya R. Margulis
Holds a Ph. D in Molecular Biology from the University of Chicago and a Certification in Etheric Sciences from the Victoria Station Council. Research interests include novel organism development, genetic enhancement, and pharmacotoxicology.

Student Researchers

Areas of Active Research

In a number of these areas, we have developed Meta-stable Quintonic Devices, colluqially known as charms.

Pharmaceuticals

Medicine has been a concern of the investigators for years. The development of novel approaches to healing and other tasks is a major focus for this group.

Nanotech Antiseptic - Cleaning wounds is a classic part of first aid, and often it will reveal that the wound is not as bad as was previously feared. This nanite antiseptic solution takes advantage of this common occurrence to disguise enlightened medical practice. This can be prepared as a MQD as antiseptic wipe or applied from a bottle by a field scientist, which has both nanites and normal pharmaceutical properties, including fast-acting analgesics.

Non-Opiate Tranquilizer - Normal tranquilizer darts are unsuitable for humans, as they cause unacceptable respiratory depression. The combination of a number of sedatives with a respiratory stimulant can induce extreme drowsiness in only a moment, and deep anesthesia in less than a minute, all without permanent damage.

Genetic Modification

Genetic Modification of various organisms is one of our prime interests. We have developed a number of sentient arthropods, including a smart (and quite poetic) cockroach, as well as the Cyber-spider series.

Electronics

Top-of-the-line devices are necessary for field agents in the modern age, but we have also manufactured a variety of disposable electronics. We have produced single-use prepaid phones as well as stored value cards.

Rhodium CommLink - Based on the pioneering Operations Digital Assistant, the Rhodium is a nearly industructable smartphone with onboard encryption and numerous attachements. The device is waterproof and resistant to falls (up to 20m onto concrete). It runs a secure operating system, with suitable architecture for Trinity Linux. While the Rhodium phone has completed hardware development, software remains in alpha.

Materials Science

Advanced materials research focuses on unique composites and alloys, particularly protective clothing.

Ecological Engineering

The modern era has brought a number of challenges, including the spread of pollution. Our efforts are currently focused on Lake Taihu, Jiangsu Province, China. The major challenges in the lake are driven by nutrient pollution - algal blooms driven by waste and fertilizer runoff. Much of this can be addressed by the use of custom-engineered microrganisms to break down nutrients or to capture them as fertilizer. We have begun using Anammonox bacteria as well as bioengineered phosphorus / mineral capture organisms at our facility, and we have also launched a pilot venture to break down the pollutants into useful organic materials.

Deimos Arsenal

Named for Wilhelm Deimos, a fallen scientist with a gift for weaponry, Deimos Arsenal specializes in advanced weapon technologies. Proceeds from the sales of Deimos Arsenal ordnance is used to support the research group. Numerous weapons are manufactured by Deimos, but the following are exceptional examples.

ZL-9 Repeating Crossbow - In many sub-universes, most modern technology is unable to function effectively, including fireams. The ZL-9 is based on a well-developed design from Ancient China that was developed into a common weapon used by the Order of Reason. The ZL-9 is a modern improvement, with synthetic spidersilk strings, a pistol grip, a spring-loaded bolt magzine fed from the bottom, and a simple optical sight designed to compensate for bolt drop. The chief improvement is the addition of a replaceable and rewindable clockwork cartridge, which can allow semi-automatic fire for up to twenty bolts. The ZL-9 can also be hand operated, but that precludes rapid fire.

XGR-12 Gyrojet Carbine - Typically, field personnel encounter enemies with considerable resilience. Conventional firearms are designed to kill normal humans, not lycanthropes or combat automata. Weapons with sufficient firepower to stop such an enemy are extremely heavy and difficult to wield for field personnel. The solution is a gyrojet rifle, with an combined-effects APIE payload. While gyrojet wepons were unsuccessful in the commercial field due to expensive, difficult to manufacture ammunition, Deimos manufacturing techniques can achieve the tight tolerances necessary for accurate gyrojet rounds.
The XGR-84 is made of modern composite materials and alloys, and requires proprietary nano-manufacturing techniques. It features either a holographic or smartlinked scope and considerable room for customization. This weapon is suitable for combat underwater, in space, or other exotic locales.

CR-84 Automatic Rifle - An upgraded version of the Colt Monitor variant on the Browning Automatic Rifle, built with modern alloys and incorporating holographic sights, this rifle is capable of fully-automatic fire using the 30-06 round. This provides added stopping power, in a commercially available calibre.
