Chet Garrod was a bright-eyed young stud on Wall Street during the heyday of the 80's, with millions of trust-fund money piled away into the defense industry and sizeable investments into the careers of movie stars who made their names punching the Soviets in the face. Naturally, the fall of the Berlin Wall was the second worst day of his life (the first being when his fiancee overdosed on cocaine) with most of his investments and those of his peers tanking with the brief slump in the military-industrial complex. Still, he had a good amount to live on using the residuals from his producer credits in the NY film scene and with the wall down, and parts of Eastern Europe might actually start buying American. He survived, but not well, and decided to move out to the West Coast to reinvent himself as an angel investor for the booming realm of e-commerce.

His sire found him barking profanities across the table of a Santa Monica nightclub, arguing with local Toreador artiste about how converting a church into a red-lit fetish club called Gothedral was tacky and a generally shitty idea. He was ten seconds from getting his throat torn out when the elder businessman came to his side and affirmed his opinion while subtly making it clear that unbeknownst to him, he was now under his protection. Over the next few months, a relationship between the two flourished, sometimes business, sometimes platonic and sometimes sexual, while Chet was steadily groomed for the revelation of the Masquerade and his Embrace.

Chet's last day of life was planned to coincide with his thirtieth birthday. There were no goodbyes for him, having been an only child and lost his parents at a young age, his fiancee and work were the only things tying him to the world and only the former of those to life. He passed onto unlife without much fanfare and was soon thrust into the center of Camarilla power by his master, who left him to manage affairs and replace him as Seneschal to the Prince while he returned to the old country for some great convocation of some circle of elders.

Alone again, besides the vipers of the court, he found some recent solace in the arms of one of the serpents belonging to the Followers of Set, who's taken up residence within his Domain to avoid suspicion. The relationship is not widely known and were it, would likely result in scandal.
