Philippe-Emmanuel de Villeneuve was born in the old world, before the Wars, before the Transgenic Examinations, before the signing of the Federation Charter. It quickly became apparent even at a young age that he was clearly gifted even beyond the exceptional modifications secured by his wealthy family, and when he joined one of the old national fleets his ascent up the ranks and then the ranks of the Federation Space Forces progressed quickly and without setbacks. De Villeneuve commanded Task Force 30 through most of the System War, and the Seventh Fleet for a number of years following the Space Independence Alliance's defeat. It seemed almost inevitable that he would serve in a senior capacity at Federation General Headquarters itself, but following the Martian Uprising he resigned his commission and retired to his family estates.

While not a member of the Mars Clique, De Villeneuve's opposition to both the growing power of INTACT and the interference of the Seraphim in Federation politics was well known and left him barred from further advancement. Rather than pursue a career that had hit a dead end, Philippe returned to private life on Earth where for the last twenty years he has dabbled in the fringes of planetary politics and watched the increasingly alarming course of the Federation's development. Transhumans can live for a very long time, another opportunity will come.<br>
