Angelo is an older human looking HITMark prototype which was used as a testbed for new technologies. Unlike the common HITMark stereotypes he looks like a very pretty boy in his late teens or early twenties. His improved AGI gives him a quirky sense of humour and he has an uncanny ability to have odd information. Unfortunately it causes him to have some unusual glitches, such as occasionally calling her Sir Erasmus or quoting 16th century astrologer-philosophers like Tycho Brahe or Giordano Bruno.

Paradigm

Quantum Theory (including Quantum Mind Theory) and String Theory explains everything! Advanced Procedures are done in one of two ways.

The first way is manipulating the boundaries between sub-dimensions, allowing you to travel between them or between distant locations by opening brief wormholes.

The second is by manipulating Quantum forces, such as sonoluminescence, zero point energy, and quantum computing.

Together these two reveal natural facts such that the so called Umbra is actually a realm of quantum computronium. Due to being entangled with the quantum mind the umbra is directly affected by the thoughts and feelings of the people in the area. The so called Umbrood are actually AI systems or aliens, but in the case of the AI systems they were "programmed" by the beliefs of the local sleepers and are thus often deeply flawed. A sufficiently competent Enlightened Operative can however reprogram them temporarily or even permanently.

Foci

A powerful quantum PDA with attached sonoluminescence (vial of absolutely pure water that powerful soundwaves can be sent through) and Zero Point energy (two metal plates made from a special technocrat alloy and placed very close together) modules. In a pinch less refined methods could be used, such as a communicator to tap into the computing system of a nearby Void Engineer vessel, base, outpost or drone.

Ally

Physical Description

Katarina is an ordinary though somewhat geeky looking woman in her late teens, with long red hair in a pony tail and green eyes. On duty she wears either her VE uniform, vaguely business style dresses or pant-suits. Off duty she likes jeans or slacks and t-shirts with amusing text on them. Either way she prefers wearing a pair of mirror-shades at all times.

History

Katarina was a vat-grown construct, designed to have brilliant insights and a keen understanding of the world. In order to compensate for the lack of the social skills that many constructs have she was given psychological counselling and training almost since she could speak. The results were mixed, though she was definitely charismatic they still failed to cure her of her tendency to lose herself in heroic fantasies. Fortunately Progenitor psychotropic drugs seemed to keep these problems under control, even if they never went away.

Overall she was a brilliant achiever in school, easily able to keep up with the difficult subject matters. Much to the satisfaction of her designers she awakened early on in her mid-teens and proved to be a natural in the field of advanced procedures. However she also developed a hankering for studying weird subdimensional life-forms and phenomena. Here too she was a natural, often able to make remarkable leaps of deductive reasoning.

Once she was old enough to be assigned to a methodology she was also given a bodyguard to keep her safe from the perils of the Near Universe. So far he's done an excellent job of keeping her safe.
