<Background to be done>
Born to a Lineage of Gunnery Officers on board the Sword-class Frigate "Manticore", Cyrine Alessunder was the second child to be born into her immediate family.  However, before her birth, the girl had been promised to a Magos Biologis that was traveling on board for his experiments.  This Magos, who remained unnamed to Cyrine, didn't completely take her away from her family.  Instead, he wanted to experiment genetically upon the girl as she was raised and trained to be a Naval Officer.  This normally included bouts of genetic manipulation and injections.  Her early childhood was normal for one born on a starship.  As soon as she was capable, Cyrine learned the basic practices and procedures for life on a warship.  No one was too young to start working either and she would help out with menial tasks.

When she reached the age ten, the Magos' experiments got increasingly complex.  Some surgeries were done on top of the genetic and chemical based therapies.  Even during this, Cyrine continued her early shipboard training and was eventually inducted into the ship's crew officially at the age of fourteen as a Midshipwoman rather than be sent of a planetary academy.  During this period, the Manticore had been called up to aid in hunting down a group of Eldar Corsairs that had been plaguing the sector.  Because of this, Cyrine saw a lot more action than most Noble, planetary-born Midshipman would ever see.  Eventually, between all the training and experimentation, Cyrine found time to take the Lieutenant's Test and pass at the age of seventeen to begin her term as an Ensign assigned to the Manticore's Gun Deck.

There, Cyrine served during the final confrontation between the Manticore's Squadron (which had assembled during this time) and the Eldar Corsairs.  Throughout the course of the engagement, Ensign Cyrine and her Gun Captains followed the Gunnery Officer's directions.  Communications were cutoff to the bridge for the span of three hours at one point, which allowed Cyrine a chance at command.  While not as experienced as the Lieutenant on the Bridge (her older brother), she kept the Macrobatteries engaged until communications were repaired.  In the end, the Corsairs had been routed and the Squadron victorious.

Four years passed and the Manticore returned to it's normal Patrol routes, but an Ork Incursion into the sector signaled yet more conflict.  Now a Third Lieutenant, Cyrine made a name for herself in the long campaign by taking command of quite a few boarding parties.  Once such incident was during a Convoy Escort when Ork Freebootaz boarded one of the many Chartist Vessels the Manticore was escorting.  While the Frigate continued to battle Ork ships, Cyrine took a boarding party onto the Chartist Vessel and began an extended action against the Orks until the enemy vessels were driven away and reinforcements could be deployed.  Her action on board the Chartist Ship landed her a promotion to Second Lieutenant and a space on the Bridge during one of the Watches.

The campaign against the Orks would last for eight more years and require the addition of Adeptus Astartes forces before it came to a definite conclusion.  During the final battle, the Manticore had been boarded by Orks and nearly over-run.  If not for the sacrifices of the crew and a holding action near the drive core lead by Cyrine, the Manticore would probably have been destroyed by her own allies.  Instead, the Manticore had been saved from a death in battle -- only to be sent to the scrapyards after everything.

At that point, the Alessunder family was separated with each being sent to different vessels.  Cyrine would have probably been taken by the Magos at that time -- if he hadn't met his demise during the final battle of the Manticore.  Instead, she was placed on half-pay and given an administration position on a world until her expertise were needed again.  Itching to get off the dirtball she was assigned to, Cyrine just needs and excuse to join the next recruitment drive of any Void Ship.

Void Mistress Cyrine
